“I Don’t Have To Prove Anything,” Katongo

Chipolopolo skipper Christopher Katongo has hit back at his critics questioning his recent showings during the World Cup qualifiers.

A visibly incensed Katongo said it was wrong for anyone to question his contribution to the national team.

“What do you mean I have not been playing well? I scored and gave you three points. I have scored the first ever international goal at this new stadium and that is history no one will take that away from me,” said the 29 year old.

“I do not agree with you unless you are the coach. If the coach said that then I would know there is a problem.”

He added: “I do not have anything to prove to you. I have proved myself all these years I am sorry I do not agree with you.”

Katongo has appeared worn down in the last two showings in the Brazil

2014 World Cup race and seems a pale shadow of the pacey soldier that terrorized defenses a few years ago.

Questions are lingering over why Renard opts to keep him on the pitch even when he appears out of steam.

Indeed, Katongo has proved himself as a very useful member and captain of the national soccer team, and he continues to show his worth. What is the matter with some people? Is it jealousy?

Katongo and Kalaba stimulate and always set the rythm of the national team. Please Katongo, remain focused and die for mother Zambia like you always do. May the lord grant you more time in football and enjoy every game.
