“I Don’t Have To Prove Anything,” Katongo

Chipolopolo skipper Christopher Katongo has hit back at his critics questioning his recent showings during the World Cup qualifiers.

A visibly incensed Katongo said it was wrong for anyone to question his contribution to the national team.

“What do you mean I have not been playing well? I scored and gave you three points. I have scored the first ever international goal at this new stadium and that is history no one will take that away from me,” said the 29 year old.

“I do not agree with you unless you are the coach. If the coach said that then I would know there is a problem.”

He added: “I do not have anything to prove to you. I have proved myself all these years I am sorry I do not agree with you.”

Katongo has appeared worn down in the last two showings in the Brazil

2014 World Cup race and seems a pale shadow of the pacey soldier that terrorized defenses a few years ago.

Questions are lingering over why Renard opts to keep him on the pitch even when he appears out of steam.

KATONGO IS SIMPLY GOOD. BETTER IN TERMS OF CAPTAINCY THAN KALU BECAUSE UNDER HIS CAPTAINCY THE AFRICA CUP WAS WON . AT 29 , HE IS NOT OLD AND ZAMBIA NEEDS MORE THAN HE NEEDS ZAMBIA.

Awe bane nasheniko akaso. Things happen according to Gods plans. we know how much you wanted zambia to win the cup with kalu as captain. So far zambia has only had two Africa footballer of the year and Chris is one of them. Ati nanaka. Noooo the boy is just more focused and doing it the proffessional way…taking it easy…thats why he scores and scores. Akalijo tuleke.

Tonga are unhappy that even the leader of Chipolopolo is Bemba. Lol! But ask Tonga women, they will confess that Tonga men cannot lead because they cannot even take care of their families. They are all poligamists leaving wives fending for the family. How do you lead a nation?

At 29 and as a midfielder Katongo has about six more years of very fruitful contribution to Chipolopolo. Ask Cameroon’s Patrick Mboma and…. Roger Milla. Doomsayers and naysayers should stop trying to demoralise Zambia’s next African Footballer of the year! Katongo, ignore these prophets of doom. Focus on your personal goals. Positive Zambia (and Renard) is behind you!.
