Action Aid Zambia has observed that disclosing how much the government is spending on the constitution making process will accord the citizens an opportunity to decide other cost effective means of adopting a new constitution.
ActionAid country director Pamela chisanga has told QFM news that this will help the people and the government on how the constitution making process will be done without spending a lot of resources.
Ms. Chisanga adds that disclosing how much is being spent on the constitution making process will also indicate how cost effective that the roadmap that the technical committee has undertaken is.
The civil society leader notes that PF government has an opportunity to leave a legacy behind by giving a people of Zambia a good constitution.
Ms. Chisanga has since urged the government to give its position on the setting up of the referendum commission that would be tasked to hold a referendum on the bill of rights as required by law.

that would be good especially that PF lambasted the mmd on money wasted on failed constitution. About the PF leaving a leagcy, I have seriouse doubts with Kabimba’s pronouncements. If this govt rapes the constituion making process, Zambia will be doomed! It is time well meaning alternatives showed themselves. Not insults please!

There is nothing wrong with transparency – it actually takes the pressure of you! The same way PF issued the Barotse Agreement for everyone to read, they can do so with the costs.

Bana Chisanga your talk is cheap. The Govt always discloses the full cost in Parliament. The question will always ask and the Vip will answer at an optune time. You are talking the obvious. Spend aid money wisely not just talk to be seen.

Transparency is vital, why do people want to always put spanners to tie what people need to know, when it is my tax payers money I need to know if it is someone s I am not allowed to know. This is where we go wrong as Zambians, we have allowed ourselves to believe it is governments money and yet it is our money. How do you allow managers to misuse your money which you contributed with your own resource and put yourself away from it and do not care whatever is taking place. Can we reasonable with our tax payers money.

@onward, your argument is hollow. Who is refuting the disclosure of the cost. The total cost will be mentioned at the correct time. The suitable question Bana Chisanga was supposed to ask would have been “what is the budget and how much is spent so far?” And the question does not arise because its normal procedure to disclose the costs towards such govt undertaking. Lets grow up.
