The statements below from the post newspaper 11th June, 2012 by the government must apply to everyone including the post. Police must arrest the postnewspaper owner, Fred Membe, for quoting in Dollar.

“THE government has advised the police to intensify their vigilance and arrest anyone demanding payment or quoting prices in US dollars or any foreign currencies because the kwacha needs to be strengthened and respected as the only legal tender in Zambia”.

The finance minister Alexander Chikwanda has signed Statutory Instrument (SI) number 33, which stipulates new currency regulations that reaffirmed the kwacha as the sole legal tender in the country.
In an interview yesterday, Sampa said there was need to have pride in the local currency so that the kwacha could contribute effectively to economic development.
He said there would be no parallel transactions and that Zambia should not be allowed to have dual currencies.

Mmembe started the Post as a hater. He wanted FTJ and MMD to give him the post of MD for Zambia State Insurance Corp. When he failed to get that he became a bitter man and started the Post so as to hit back against MMD govt. The pen being mightier than the sword, prevailed. He can now sit back and enjoy the fruits of his labour while smiling on his way to the Bank to beef up his dollar account.Very smart fella..!

It is very sadening to hear the insulting words that are being used in only simple matters of which everybody knows that there are institutions that are responsible for resolving every arising matters. This is not the way we should live as Zambians, let us realise that we are rational beings and cease to be guided by emotions. The issue of Fred M’membe is not the issue that should move people to be replying with insults, no!no! that is absolutely uncalled for, in this country. let us not politicise everything otherwise we are not going to morally build our country. The comment that ”is Fred M’mbe above the law? It is not the comment that should attract insulting commentries from well ordered citizens. Objedtively speaking let us desist from that bad attitude. I reitaliate that let us allow reason to guide us in all public matters regardless political affiliations.
