The statements below from the post newspaper 11th June, 2012 by the government must apply to everyone including the post. Police must arrest the postnewspaper owner, Fred Membe, for quoting in Dollar.

“THE government has advised the police to intensify their vigilance and arrest anyone demanding payment or quoting prices in US dollars or any foreign currencies because the kwacha needs to be strengthened and respected as the only legal tender in Zambia”.

The finance minister Alexander Chikwanda has signed Statutory Instrument (SI) number 33, which stipulates new currency regulations that reaffirmed the kwacha as the sole legal tender in the country.
In an interview yesterday, Sampa said there was need to have pride in the local currency so that the kwacha could contribute effectively to economic development.
He said there would be no parallel transactions and that Zambia should not be allowed to have dual currencies.

This article is merely trying to show the hypocrisy of the PF govt. Everyone knows that Fred Membe can’t be prosecuted by a govt he helped to get into power and controls. Fred is trying to show everyone that he can do it with impunity because he is the Alpha and Omega. We can only thank the Post for “speaking” on behalf of the weak and silent wise majority. The post DPP has just entered a nolle proseque for all who will commit this offence.

If you have a problem with the Post Newspaper of Fred Mmembe stop buuying it. There are a lot of other papers today on the street icluding the Daily Nation…a good paper than the other so called papers whose agenda has been atrtacking individuals in the name of so called the media. Just look at the Post it was RB and now it is HH why because HH told Mmembe to pay back the K14billion he owes..What mmembe does not know is that he is actually building HH ..everyday HH this, HH that we tired of one person always. Now may people are saying HH is gaining popularity because of Mmembe.

For all those in support of Fred’s folly, be reminded that he could easily have put a foot note Stating his inability to correct things in view of his govt’s declaration of not quoting for goods and services in US dollar. But he is judge and jury.

Am a cotton farmer and we also export Roses to Europe, how do i quote in kwacha? The instrument signed by the Minister is not without exception coz some products just have to be quoted in Kwacha. Ask KCM, Mopani and other mining companies if the can quote their Copper in Kwacha.

Fred is not the Post, The post is a Limited company, meaning Meembe is independend from the Corporate, he may have influence but its the Post to be desplined, the Author is Ignorant, it seems he has a personal problem with the Man. Do you have evidence the Quotes they are Issuring are in Dollar, morover the Web is an instrument one can sell a product across the Globe, so how would a company from the states be able to know the price of advertising on the post

Fred = Balotelli – if it ain’t good – tell them. Notwithstanding that, GRZ should be clear on whether it will be necessary to hold a USD or Rand account in Zambia. For all we know, the banks are making serious bucks out of this. By the time, we fine tune this charging in USD thingy, we would have lost tourists to other countries that do not “need” yellow fever injections, that have lower fuel costs and visa costs and have fewer potholes.

Why is the author being personal? Is the post a sole trader or a limited company? People need to be educated on the fact that companies have their own legal personalities different from that of owners.
I have seen similar sentiments on the Zambian Airways

I SUSPECT FRED MEMBE IS MAD OR HE HAS A PSYCHOLOGICAL PROBLEM. WHISLT NO ONE IS PERFECT, I FIND HIS BEHAVIOUR EXTREMELY UNCALLED FOR. CHECK HIS BACKGROUND PROPERLY, MOSTLY HE IS A REJECT BY ONE OF THE PARENTS OR THEY IS JUST SOMETHING IN HIS PAST THAT HAUNTS HIM. HE NEEDS OUR PRAYERS AND COUNSELLING…

Keep yawning but most of us know that Fred & the post newspapers limited arent above the law! All those with funcitional minds are alive to the fact that Fred & many other post employees have been arrested on a number of times before & usually on politically motivated grounds. Such cases die a natural death & just embarrass those behind them! Ask RB!!!

One thing we should know is the coverage of the online publication. Look at the advert just on home page you find Be Forward which is Japan, you want the post to quote in ZMK. Another example inter-fairline that is a Japanese company. Is copper being sold in ZMK.
