Prof. Luo Says Officials Have Grabbed Council Businesses
Local government minister Nkandu Luo has observed that some of the businesses that the councils are supposed to run for purposes of revenue collection have been taken up by individual senior council officials.
Professor Luo has told QFM news that this has resulted in conflicts of interest especially in the hospitality business where councils are supposed to run guest houses.
The minister adds that this has led to the deterioration of most council guest houses in the country thereby contributing to the narrowing of the revenue base for local authorities in the country.
Professor Luo observed that some senor council officials that have set up personal guest houses seem to have neglected the running the council guest house facilities.
She stated that these are some of the many management issues that the ministry seeks to address to improve efficiency in the local government system.

this prof hapens 2 b just 1 of the few reasonable ministers in the pf govt. shez nt interestd in making cadres happy at the expense of poor zambians. go on prof,do the right thing.

I know she is not like others who first feed their own pockets to full but concentrating on matters concerning this poor country.

A few yrs ago and wayback wen mmd was in power by then pro. Luo was minister of health she contributed 2 cholera patients dying lyk dogs bcoz she failed 2 make glucoce and find medic. She also sold blue paint 2 bus and taxi ownerz without any wish.how can she manage munali constituency and her anti hiv/aids ngo? jst loitering and killing tym in council

Like in Nakonde where a Ka Council Secretary has Lodge and gets customers meant for the council guest house. this surely shud be addressed.

Prof luo u re a woman and half,l like your courage and determination,u r like kambwili.My humble appeal to other minister emulate these two and zambia will develop and it will never be the same again.Just clean the cobwebs in councils its too much that’s why we re not developing impupu shachila muma govt institutions.Go!go! will rally behind u mama,good thinking God bless!
