THE National Restoration Party (NAREP) has added its voice on the need to address the issue of tribal politics that is gradually affecting Zambia.
NAREP president Elias Chipimo said in an interview yesterday that if the issue of tribalism in the political arena was left unchecked it might cause serious consequences.
Mr Chipimo said a national conference to discuss the best solutions of dealing with tribalism in politics should be called.
His party was willing to share the table with other political leaders and stakeholders to come up with a solution which would address the issue of a non-tribal society.
“There is need for the involvement of all leaders, youths and women to come together and discuss how we can have a non-tribal society,” he said.
He however, said there was nothing wrong for people to associate with people who shared similar cultural trends, but this should not be done to disadvantage other tribes.
“There is basically nothing wrong with tribalism, as people always feel close to people they share the similar culture with. What is wrong is excluding others based on tribal grounds,” he said.
Last week Vice-President Guy Scott said political leaders who want to engage in politics on tribal grounds were wasting their time as there was no room for that in Zambia.
am a serious PF DIE HARD.

Those who talk about tribalism like Chipimo and Scott are the tribalists themselves. There is a normal attachment to one of your own of which everybody practices. For example, look at UNIP and later MMD in Eastern Province. I do not believe that UPND is a tribal party. There is just the dislike of a Tonga or Lozi and hence people do not want to associate with them. Therefore, when they remain with their own people it becomes tribalsim. If thats what you think, why can n’t you show them an example. If we have elections in Muchinga, Luapula, Northern and Copperbelt LET THE PEOPLE VOTE FOR UPND.

Chipimo, why are you contradicting yourself? It is the same tendency of being and associating more closely with people of your own culture than others that results in and in fact constitutes tribalism. It means you’d find the cultural practises of others less acceptable than yours, same with your choice of a man or woman to love.

I am happy to see that visionary leaders such as Chipimo have began to advocate for a tribaly tonned down Zambian Society. This is what David Kaunda envisioned. This is what we badly need to aim at even more seriously nowadays. The republican presidency is for a Zambian: from among our beloved tribes in Zambia. I challenge all sorts of leadership in Zambia to help bring down the high tribal temperature (tribal warming) that negatively impacts on our thinking and imagination, today. Leaders heal us, please.

Chipimo is a One man party leader. Ever since he started dinning with SATA, he thinks with his balls. The biggets tribal party is PF, the party he goes to bed with. Sata in Chinsali claimed Nevers Mumba neglected them when he served as V/P for a very short time in Levy’s MMD Govt. Does this mean u develop your own province first??? No wondr Sata created a province where he comes from. OUT Sata in 2016. TB Joshua, proffesize Sata’s fate.
