Chipolopolo-Zimbabwe Friendly Hits Snag ‘Ndola Stadium mgt demand K200 million From FAZ for using the newly built structure’

Plans to host the next week’s international friendly match involving Zambia and Zimbabwe at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium have hit a snag with the management of the facility demanding K200 million for using the newly built structure.

FAZ communications officer Erick Mwanza said the association would be forced to shift the venue of the match if the venue proved beyond the association’s reach.

The match that is scheduled to test the venue’s ability to host evening matches is set for August 8.

“When we take a game to any venue, we look at different factors. One of the factors of course is the economics of a particular match. This

(Zambia/Zimbabwe friendly) is not an A international match and when a match is not an A international it means the commercial value or viability of that game is much lower. It is reduced,” Mwanza said.

“I’m reluctant to comment on the figures right now because they are still at administrative process.

If by any means we look at the cost of hire for the stadium that it will not make economic sense for us then we shift the venue. We pay every stadium we go to.”

Gate charges for the low key friendly have been pegged at K10 000 for the upper deck, K20 000 for the lower deck and K100 thousand for the VIP section.

The idea of paying for using the newly constructed stadium is okey, in the sense that, standards should be maintained, if standards go down then we know who to ask, but the money that the management is asking is just too huge, paying should be a must but revisit your asking price. We appreciate and we know, there are lot of bills to be settled. We should not dictate but humbly beg.

Why akaso so Ba FAZ? This is how you ran down all our other stadia – wanting things for free so that you’re the only ones to make money. No ways! In any business you can only make money by spending money! Good job Ba Ndola stadium.

Is Zesco is on pre paid at K200 million per game?!!!! Be serious, we have always craved for a national stadium for international matches, now you want us to have a ” White Elephant”. As much as FAZ should pay for the facility, hiring charges should be realistic!!!!
