THE Mineworkers Union of Zambia (MUZ) has urged the Government to find another investor to develop Ichimpe Mine in Kalulushi because the current developer Zhonghui mining group of China is allegedly nowhere to be found.
MUZ president Nkole Chishimba said that the Government should not wait for time-wasters when the people were looking for jobs.
He said the act by the developers should serve as a lesson for the investors in future to follow procedures.
But Mines Permanent Secretary Victor Mutambo said Government was doing everything possible to ensure that the mine was developed and created jobs for the people.
Mr Chishimba alleged that Zhonghui mining was not a serious investor because it kept all the relevant stakeholders in the dark over the development of the mine.
According to a detailed plan submitted to Government by the investor Ichimpe Mine was forecast to be operational in 2014.
