President Michael Sata has advised politicians and government leaders to be factual in the statements they issue to the public.
President Sata says it is regrettable that opposition leader Hakainde Hichilema is misleading the nation by claiming that the government officials and other constitutional office bearers have awarded themselves hefty salary increments.
The head of State has since directed the government officials to clarify the facts surrounding the salary increments for constitutional office holders which are being misrepresented.
President Sata was speaking at State house when he swore in Harry Kalaba as deputy minister in the office of the vice president, and Stephen Kampyongo and Nickson Chilangwa as deputy ministers in the ministry of home affairs.
The President has also sworn-in Ronald Chitotela as deputy minister of labour, while Christopher Mulenga is deputy minister of health.
President Sata has also appointed Patrick Kangwa as the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit Coordinator in the office of the Vice President.
And deputy Secretary to the Cabinet Roland Msiska says the salary increments for constitutional office bearers has been done to harmonizer and rationalize the conditions of service across the three arms of government.
Dr. Msiska in a statement released to journalists in Lusaka today said government has decided to revise the salaries for the president and other constitutional office bearers after observing a lot of distortions in the conditions of service.
He adds that this is also in line with the government’s vision of offering competitive salaries and conditions of service that would enable the public service attract and retain the best professionals.
Dr. Msiska says harmonization of the salaries is an on-going programme that government has embarked on and will be done in phases in order to cater for all the government departments.

When will His Exc MCS be seen and heard to be making efforts to rationalize appointments?? The duty of ensuring equal regional representation falls squarely on him! Am scared, worried and concerned. He has the opportunity of reaching out to pipo that are viewed as not having voted for him.

The President is right to appoint from his region because the rest are from Mwadia Mweka Daddy (MMD) and UP aNd Down (UPND) parties respectively. How can he appoint from MMD and UPND when these people are always saying it’s assualt on democracy. Let him appoint from his region who are three quarters PF. Shame on you loosers, keep complaining as we work with focused citizens…

I am sure that during the Mutomboko ceremony Mwata must have complained about the few number of ministers from LUAPULA(02) inspite of the province having given PF all the seats except for chembe so now he is trying to make the people of luapula happy, Kalaba is Bahati MP while Chitotela is from Pambashe both luapula constituences. Its Good for Liverpool because ifwe tatulandalanda fwebena luapula tuloleshafye, majority have been from Northern. So please for you who may be ignorant the people appointed are not from Sata’s region they are from luapula and Luapula is not Northern. If you go by names you would think they are bembas NO Kalaba is a Aushi while chitotela is a Chishinga very far from Bemba.

Its interesting to see how pipo want to make distinctions when it comes to our dear brothers and sisters that hail from up north. Likewise Southern province is vast and the habitats do not speak exactly the same language. There are tongas, ilas, gobas etc who are conveniently grouped together by critics. mcs u have the task of winning other pipo’s confidence through your actions!

Whichever way you look at it, Bemba dormination is becoming a dangerous issue. We may bury our heads in the sand now but posterity will judge us harshly. Kaunda left a Zambia that was almost forgetting tribes existed in the motherland, but we are slowly but surely bringing back the ugly face of trhbalism!’ MrPresident balance your act, if we fail we do so at our own peril.

I honestly think there are two things happening here, either Sata is lying or he is just plain ****** & wholly incapable of simple addition. To begin with, can Dr Msiska list for us the so called numerous distortions in the conditions of service for constitutional office bearers that prompted these SATAnic increments? Secondly, all the adjustments enacted during the MMD regime were effected bringing the salary of the president in particular to K167 million when Sata took office last year. Now, the GRZ Statutory Instrument No. 17 and 18 of 2012 raised this K167 million grudas salary to K320 million representing a hefty 91.6%. This is to the nearest 100%. It is not HH who is lying here, CNP has been caught pants down, stealing!
