Zimbabwe’s Squad For Zambia Friendly Named

Caretaker Warriors coach Rahman Gumbo has named a 24-man squad for this month’s friendly with Zambia.

The Warriors play a Zambia development team on August 8 at the newly completed Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

The new faces in the national team set-up are the CAPS United duo of midfielder Rahman Kutsanzira and defender Blessing Zabula as well as the Highlanders pair of captain Innocent Mapuranga and Bruce Kangwa.

Bosso’s new wonder kid, Peter Moyo, has also been called up together with Buffaloes midfielder Prosper Matizanadzo and Chicken Inn’s Danny Phiri.

The rest of the team has remained unchanged with Gumbo naming most of the players that have done duty for the country in recent various assignments.

Warriors team manager Nyika Chifamba said the players should report for duty at the Zifa offices on August 6 while the team will travel to Ndola the following day.

Goalkeepers:

Marlon Jani (Motor Action), Ariel Sibanda (Highlanders), George Chigova (Dynamos), Francis Tizayi (FC Platinum).

Defenders:

Passmore Bernard, Godfrey Moyo (Motor Action), Arnold Chaka (MCC, Botswana), Khumbulani Banda (FC Platinum) Innocent Mapuranga, Bruce Kangwa (Highlanders), Partson Jaure (Dynamos), Blessing Zabula (CAPS United).

Midfielders:

Brian Mapfumo, Ronald Chitiyo (Monomotapa), Peter Moyo (Highlanders), Mandla Sibanda (BMC, Botswana), Danny Phiri (Chicken Inn), Prosper Matizanadzo (Buffaloes), Denver Mukamba (Dynamos).

Strikers:

Nelson Maziwisa (Shabanie Mine), Rodwell Chinyengetere (Hwange), Rahman Kutsanzira (CAPS United), Charles Sibanda (FC Platinum), Francisco Zekumbawire.
