Lusaka Man Tells Court ‘I Didn’t Break Her Virginity; She Slept With 5 Men Before Me’
A LUSAKA man has refused being responsible for breaking his girlfriend’s virginity because she had told him she slept with five men before the two met.
Peter Phiri 20 who accepted responsibility for the pregnancy, told the Lusaka Boma Court Magistrates Marble Mwaba and Lazarous Mwape that his girlfriend Sofia Mwale 16 told him that he was not the first man she had slept with because there had been five other men before him.
This was in a case in which Eliza Tembo sued Phiri of Chaisa Township for virginity damage of her daughter Mwale.
“She was not a virgin when we met; she told me herself that she had slept with other men. I am not responsible for breaking her virginity even though I impregnated her,” he said
However, Mwale denied Phiri’s claims saying he was the first man she had slept with. She said when her parents found out about the pregnancy, they asked her to go and live with Phiri who was also being kept by his grandparents.
Mwale said while at his home, Phiri forced her to take some tablets that led to her miscarriage.
“After taking the tablets, I had cramps and a day later, I had a miscarriage,” Mwale said.
Tembo told the court that she sued because Phiri impregnated her daughter and has failed to pay money for damage.
Passing judgment, the court upheld the claim and ordered Phiri to pay Tembo K3 million as compensation in monthly installments of K250, 000 starting August month end.

There is no such a thing as virginity damage. When a man has sex with a girl, what he damages is the reputation of the girl’s family. That is what Phiri was charged for. The other 5 have no case to answer because they caused no shame to the Tembo family.

Can you imagine this foolish girl,what if she didn’t get pregnant was she going to disclose that about her virginity.That’s why I strongly advocate that let’s stop this nonsense of punishing boys alone whenever there’s a pregnancy because they did it together and besides this girl didn’t say she was raped.So ba local court charge both the boy and girl and deter those foolish parents who make their daughters a source of income
