Police Arrest Luanshya Immigration Boss For Rape
POLICE have arrested officer-in-charge of Luanshya office, Friday Liandu, for raping a girl aged 18 years.
Copperbelt commissioner Mary Tembo confirmed in an interview that the incident happened around 04:00 hours on Saturday at Mwetete guest House in Luanshya.
“Yes, the incident happened on 11th August, he was charged with rape of a girl of Luanshya who is also a grade 12 pupil at Luanshya Girls Secondary school,” she said.
“And the suspect is Friday Liandu aged 38 of house number 144 Cheswa Avenue Luanshya who is also officer-charge, Immigration in Luanshya.”
And police sources said the victim went missing from home for the whole day on Friday and that her friends informed those that were looking for her that she was picked by unknown man.
The source said Liandu was taken to the police by citizens who effected a citizens arrest.

This story is vague but the little said here makes it sound like it was consensual. At 18 she is an adult according to the law and ready to bonk anyone from presidents to imigration officers to even school boys at her school.

I take it an 18 year old to be an adult.The defination of rape being violently forcing one to have sex against ones will am sure the pipo who work there wud have seen the man pulling of forcing her to go to the rooms.Even if its being dull what can a woman of 18 go and do in a room with a man who is not her brother to make matters worse at night or very early in the morning.Its high time gals knew what they were worth rather than throwing themselves everywhere.In grade twelve that gal was suposed to be studying as the exams are around the corner.lets take education as our prioty.

Rape is having sex with someone without consent or forced sex. Agreeing to go with him to a Rest house is not consenting to having sex. Rape also happens between married couple when one has not consented to having sex, sleeping in the same bed is not a granty to force oneself on the other.

I did not realize Zambians can be this shallow in their thinking. Whether she agreed to go to the room with him or not does not mean he had the right to rape her. We do not know the details of the case. What if he refused to use a condom and she did not want to have sex unprotected? What if she realized that what she was doing was wrong but had nowhere to go at 4 in the morning? You people need help and no wonder our sisters, girlfriends, wives cousins are raped with impunity simply because we think consent to meet a man is consent to have sex. Even if you were on top of a woman both of you undressed if she said NO that was it.
