Political Analyst Neo Simutanyi has advised opposition political parties to engage in constructive criticism of government policies.
In an interview with Qfm News, Dr. Simutanyi says there is need for a vibrant opposition that will ensure that government delivers on its campaign promises.
He has however pointed out that Zambians have a right to express themselves on issues of national interest and that the views of every individual citizen must be respected.
Dr. Simutanyi has also stressed that in a democratic dispensation, opposition political parties are an important driver of the country’s development.
He has since disagreed with fellow analyst Alex Ng’oma who has categorically stated that the opposition in the country is becoming petty for saying that Zambia is drifting into a police state following recent developments involving the UPND.
Dr. Simutanyi has therefore urged the opposition to continue providing checks and balances to government in order to protect the interests of the poor people.
