Renard Granted Residence Permit, as KCM Buys Him K350m Worth Vehicle

Sports minister Chishimba Kambwili has disclosed that government has granted Zambia National Soccer Team coach Herve Renard a residence permit.

This means that Renard is free to live in Zambia for as long as he wishes.

Kambwili says the move is in recognition of Renard’s achievement of guiding the Chipolopolo Boys to lifting the prestigious African Cup of Nations trophy.

The minster disclosed this at Football house this morning when Konkola Copper Mines donated a brand new Toyota Fortuner worth K350 million to the Football Association of Zambia, which will be used by coach Renard.

Kambwili has paid tribute to KCM for their continued support to football in the country and further urged the corporate world to emulate the gesture shown by KCM.

Meanwhile, Kambwili said if other corporate entities do not support football as part of their corporate social responsibility, government will not hesitate to back a legislation that will introduce a levy for companies to support football.

And KCM chief Executive Officer Jeyakumar Janakaraj said KCM is proud to be associated with the African Champions and expressed hope that Coach Renard will use the vehicle to scout for talent in all parts of the country.

He pledged KCM’s continue participation in the development of football in the country.

Speaking at the same occasion, FAZ president Kalusha Bwalya said the donation will go a long way and further urged KCM to extend the goodwill to fans by facilitating transportation of fans to accompany the team to the 2013 AFCON in South Africa.

He said with the support from the corporate world, FAZ will ensure that the national team prepares adequately for future engagements.

Hon Kambwili, are you aware that a company or a corporation chooses its own strategy for corporate responsibility? In most countries if not all CR is optional and can never be forced on a company, however most companies know that CR is the way to go as this helps them to engage with the communities they do business with. To expect all companies to support footbal at the expense of serious matters such as disease eradication or even other sports is sinking lower than a dog’s belly on your part.
