“We will do well together – that’s the most important thing and that’s why I’m here.” Emmanuel Mayuka
The Zambian forward is delighted to have arrived in England, and is thrilled with his opportunity to play at St Mary’s.
“It feels great,” he told Saints Player.
“I’m really excited and happy to be here and I just cannot wait to be out there wearing a Southampton shirt and getting going.
“I think the passion of the team and the fans is good and I believe that Southampton is one of the best clubs in England, so for me it was quite easy to decide to come here.
“I’m a good scoring striker and I believe Southampton is best for me.”
Mayuka is looking forward to playing in the Barclays Premier League, and revealed that is has been a long term dream of his to do so.
“It was,” he admits. “I don’t know how I feel right now really but in English football I’ve always dreamed of playing in the Premier League and I thank God I’m happy now that I’m here and I just want to do my thing to help the team.
“We will do well together – that’s the most important thing and that’s why I’m here, to help the team to achieve our goals.”
The striker gave no clues away as to what his targets are, but he hopes to make his debut in Sunday’s game against Manchester United.
“You’ll just have to wait to see what I can produce, and maybe you’ll find out on Sunday what I can do.”
