Talent Yapa ZED Judgement Criteria ‘Reasoning Of The Judges Is Disappointing’
Dear Editor,
The rationale behind this program is absolutely perfect.This kind of innovation and motivational schemes are what we need in Zambia. But am constantly disappointed with the reasoning of the judges when they are saying their “NOs” and “YESs”
I Believe the Idea of the program is to motivate young Zambians but these Judges instead of Doing Just That they discourage them. The Fact that someone falls to meet their stand on this program should not be platform for them to destroy talent for good in these young people. Where someone say “Stop Singing, you are not a singer.” That is a very careless statement for someone to utter after assessing someone for less than 20minutes.
These judges some of them do not even have a successful music career, am imagining Ballard Zulu Singing His “Ndivour!! Ndivour!!” in front of the Judges. I don’t think himself (Ballad) would have gone through.
One Thing that amazes me is that, these Judges are even being influenced by things like beauty. Sometimes I question these judges ability to make Judgment. They Judge RAP,POETRY,DRAMA,COMEDY,DANCE in short all sorts of art when they have little Knowledge about these Arts themselves. It’s a shame!!!!!!!
Dear Judges Make your Judgments but don’t think you have the right to destroy these Kids potential . Don’t you know that the words you say so carelessly will affect some of the kids’ abilities for the rest of their lives?
Little Advice to Judges: Look at what Zambians Enjoy and Make you Judgments based on that, not what you like
Food for thought, Dandy Crazy ,Mark II , General Kanene& many others like that, If they were being assessed,what would have been these judges’ comments??? But this is the kind Zambian Like.
JUDGES BE ZAMBIAN JUDGES : Don’t be influenced by south African Judges on south African Talent (Idols) or American Judges on American Talent… Be Zambian Judges on Zambian Talent

if someone sucks and are wasting our time, i think the judge should never mince their words and just be honest and tell them they SUCK. a lot of the people auditoning pa Talent Y Pa Zed are horrible and seem to be out of touch with reality.

leave Ballad alone… I use 2 thnk he was a demn judge, bt my gods hv jst convinced me tht he is worth it. No one cn discovr or ruin one’s talent, it is yourself. Such pipo ar there to encourage or discourage u. It only dipends on hw u take it.
Ballad, shud remain, why say so? Evry contestant shud undrstand tht TYZ is not to discovr talent bt to expose it. Its not easy to pocket K100 mln, tht why there huddles like Ballad. Go with quality of conviction, Ballad wil not hide his rare YES. To some pipo its really shocking, promising, accountants, lawyers, footballers, med doc and many more, waisting their tym wht does not befeat thm.

Wow wow !thts showbiz for you.its not a game for the mellow hearted like the author and i,its for the tough ,resilient and goal oriented.Its a dog eat dog industry where only the tough tested survive.I too cnt stand the comments those judges pass to 14yr kids so i jst change channels when the programe begins.I really feel bad but the contestants know what they are in for and some even smile when they are being humiliated by a guy who doesnt even understand the difference between aria and minim.Still,those judges should know the difference between criticism and humiliation.

What do u expect when corruption comes in different forms and people; it’s up to you to see in a normal way or upside. The judges corrupt behavior does not the expect an expert to see; they are biased towards gender, complexion [ladies], surnames and if it a song then it must of a particular tribe.

I have not seen the show, so I can not comment on it. I can however say that imitating Randy and Simon is not good for us. Those guys are coming from a different reality, and a more advanced industry. Even then, I find their attitudes in bad taste. What we need is to encourage our young people. It is true that some people just can not sing, or do not have what it takes, but one need not humiliate them. Anyway, for some time now the Zambian music industry has been dominated by fakes and phonies with pretty low standards.

I agree with most of comments above. The best Judge is Kenny if not mistaken (The Chief Judge). Taonga,Ballard, and Mulenga no. Ballard waste of all. I liked Kenny’s Judgment right from inception.

I would like to know whether the participants undergo any auditioning before they appear in front of judges and on national television because this is the trend elsewhere in the world. Auditioning would reduces dissing of these young Zambians aspiring to be artists.

Boi kaputo you must have bn a competitor on the show and you wear a lousy one at that. That is how they judge. If you come here with some hiphop junk we ll judge you based on hiphop. If you come with kalindula kalindula it will be. There is no such thing as zambian reggea, its just reggea played by a zambian. The judges are fine what they want is the cream. They are not mentors. Kenny Tonga just shows off his dreads and thinks he is a star. Wonder why they even made him chief judge when hez never even written a song. He’s just a DJ and not even the best DJ.
Sometimes he attaches alot of emotion and ends up being childish. He criticises the poor paticitants not to sound Western but Zambian when himself wants to judge them like on X factor. Practice What you preach Kenny Tong.

it looks like every one is missing the whole point of the program.The program was introduced so as to pick out one (1) winner among the few people that have real talent that needs to be exposed.Not the nonsense weve been exposed to,hence we need judges that are tough and know the existance of roots.not nga mwa pepa ibange you all think you are micheal jackson or beyonce when you can simply be yourselves and sing or do whatever in your local roots.Look at shows like Banja,mwine mushi,Ever heard of mashombe blue jeans? thats talent we need to expose.So leave ballard and come with something impresive not ifya malushi(Vomit).
