Baby Dies During Couple’s Sex Romp In Kafue
POLICE in Kafue have arrested a 23-year-old housewife for allegedly causing the death of her eight-month-old baby during a sexual encounter with her boyfriend.
The ‘couple’ is believed to have been engulfed by the pleasures of the act to an extent that they became oblivious of the presence of the infant whom it is believed was squashed under their bodies and later discovered dead.
The boyfriend, whose names are yet to be made public, is believed to be on the run while the woman, who was arrested to help with investigations, has been released on police bond.
Preliminary postmortem results indicate that the baby died from choking.
Kafue Gender Based Violence (GBV) Committee secretary Arnold Asafu Phiri, who disclosed the incident in an interview over the weekend, said that it happened on August 24, 2012 between 03:00 and 06:00 hours
Mr Phiri said the woman’s husband was reported to have gone out of town on a business trip when the wife took advantage of his absence to invite the boyfriend into the matrimonial home.
But luck was not on the couple’s side as they later discovered they had slept on the baby, resulting in its death.
According to police sources in Kafue, the woman is scheduled to appear in court but the father of the child who has since returned from his business trip has opted to settle the matter out of court.
Meanwhile, Mr Phiri has bemoaned the high levels of GBV cases in Kafue District.
He cited a recent case where a biological father of a 12-year-old boy forced his child to swallow a condom as punishment for misconduct before breaking his leg.
He said the boy’s father was angered after his son failed to obey his instructions to stop making footballs using condoms.
Mr Phiri said when the father, a Zambia National Service officer discovered that his son had continued with the practice, he decided to punish him by allegedly making him swallow a condom.
The boy is admitted to Kafue District Hospital where he is nursing a broken leg.
“We have a lot of GBV cases here. Children are being abused by their parents, guardians and others in one way or another,” Mr Phiri said.
