A FEMALE member of the Zimbabwe Republic Police was gang-raped by two men along Seke road in the Zimbabwean capital, Harare.
The policewoman, who was clad in her uniform, also lost cash and a mobile phone to the suspected robbers. The pair reportedly accosted the police officer after she had disembarked from a kombi at the intersection of Seke Road and Dieppe Road intending to proceed on another kombi to Epworth. She was allegedly dragged to a bush in Graniteside where the assailants took turns to rape her before robbing her of a US$1 and a mobile phone.
Joe Sikhonyana (29) yesterday appeared before Harare magistrate Ms Anita Tshuma charged with two counts of rape and robbery.
He was not asked to plead and was remanded in custody to September 14.
He was advised to seek bail at the High Court. Sikhonyana’s accomplice, Clive Zindoga, is still at large.
Prosecutor Mr Tungamirai Chakurira alleges that on July 31, at around 6pm, the pair stalked the female cop after she disembarked from a kombi at the intersection of Seke Road and Dieppe Road.
It is alleged Sikhonyana and Zindoga grabbed the cop her by the throat and ordered her to surrender all her possessions.
They then allegedly threatened to stab her if she screamed. The duo stole her mobile phone and a US$1 before dragging her into a nearby bush where they took turns to rape her until she fell unconscious.
After committing the offence, the duo fled the scene and the cop later regained consciousness and filed a police report. Recently another policewoman was robbed and gang-raped by four men at the same spot.
Two members of the gang have since appeared in court charged with rape and robbery. She also lost her mobile phone and US$1,50 to the gang.

Its important that the Police go for re-training at all times. Our Zambian Police women are too fat to even run, most of them smear themselves with those powders to look beautiful.

The ever trends and militacy drills should be applied whenever in uniform- one up one down idiom should be observed all the time. Move with bound by bound and at least in pairs. It is embracing to hear uniformed people being raped like that. Mind you, you are only powerful as a group not individually. Sorry madam.

Allow cops, female and male, to carry handguns (and I mean load pistols) at all times while they are in uniform!
For women cops walking home alone after dark, it can be a dangerous undertaking. There are “savages” out there who would want to make a name within their circle of demented criminal friends by raping or robbing an officer. However, with a gun at the ready, rapists and common criminals will think twice attacking a female police officer, no matter what time of the day or night.
Here in the USA, cops carry their police issued weapons (pistols) home. Only when they are off duty and in civilian clothes are they not allowed to carry guns. Nonetheless, if they have a special permit (a permit to carry a concealed weapon), just like any other upstanding citizen who applies for it and get approved, they can carry their own private guns.
Anyway, I suppose such things can only happen in America where the gun culture is part of life. But danger and violence, especially towards women police officers, is part of life (even part of culture) in many parts of the world. So at least allow these poor female cops to be armed at all times while in uniform. They will stand a better chance of defending themselves against crap like this!!!!!
