The opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) charged that the constitution making process will be in jeopardy with the appointment of Patriotic Front Secretary General Wynter Kabimba as new Justice Minister.
Party Spokesperson Charles Kakoma has told Qfm news in an interview that Mr. Kabimba’s appointment has put the whole constitution making at risk.
Mr Kakoma says Mr Kabimba will not add any value to challenges facing the judiciary in the country.
He says Mr. Kabimba has on several occasions criticized certain provisions in the draft constitution which the majority Zambians have proposed.
And Mr. Kakoma has charged that Zambians cannot rely on Mr. Kabimba to bring justice and restore the dignity in the judiciary stating that his statements on the political front have been one sided.
President Michael Sata on Monday appointed Mr. Kabimba as Justice after relieving Sebastian Zulu of his duties last week.

UPND at it again.Its like everything sata does is wrong in your eyes.Kabimba should be supported and criticized constructively where he errors.Kabimba has given his personal opinion on the constitution making process and has also given reasons why,that’s the best way to argue and he is free to debate on the draft constitution as an individual and he did so on capacity as an individual and not justice minister.What we should now be pressing for is him and the technical committee to give us the budget,time frame,whether we will have a referendum or not and other contentious issues.Lets rise beyond petty partisan politics and serve our country diligently.The problems facing the judiciary cannot be sorted overnight but will be a process and the fact that the PF have confessed that the judiciary needs reforms is a step in the right direction.

Kakoma has a point and Winter has demonstrated already that he hates diverse views. I pray he doesn’t become another Sakeni or Lungu. Judiciary reforms are in great danger. Soon we shaall see Judge Chikopa’s tribunal commence it’s work because that’s the primary reason he has been appointed. No more judicial freedom. It’s party and it’s government.

RESPECT for any ones opinion is cardinal in a democracy and it is folly for one to give a deaf ear to counsel. Kakoma has his own reasons to say so. Why insult and demonise the whole UPND leadership. Grow up and learn to reason with others.

Kakoma, you’re a disgace to your party . You have reached a point whereby you as upnd pipo stopped seeing things positively there is no thing that you can point at that you can say pleases you. Shame. Do not have a regional mentallity look at things in a broarder way.

why insulting, if kabimba says 50+1 is not good for the country its his views but he forgets that when he was in opposition he advocated for this,thats how fun african politics is. Also kakoma should look at things in a broader way and not focus his minds on kabimba and the PF coz this time we need a good constitution and people are ready to rise and refuse if this is manipulated through proper channels, we are all behind zambia.

For God’s sake KABIMBA NEVER SAID HE DO NOT NEED 50+1%. WHAT HE SAID WAS THAT AS AN INDIVDUAL HE WAS NOT COMFORTABLE WITH THE RUNNING MATE CLAUSE,TO HIM RUNNING MATE IS HAVING TWO CENTRES OF POWER.AND HE SAID SO AS AN INDIVIDUAL NOT AS PARTY OR GOVT. AS A CITIZEN HE ALSO HAVE THE RIGHT TO COMMENT AT ANYTHING JUST LIKE YOU AND ME.

If my memory serves me right, UPND took part in the abominable NCC which failed lamentably. What contribution did they make to the constitution then? UPND has no moral right to say anything about the new constitution.

Lets wait and see what Kabimba has to deliver for us Zambians. It can not be prudent of us to judge him upon assume of office. Lets stay organized and observe. Its ease to remove the current Government if they try to give themselves posts on selfish interests. Viva amaka pa nchende viva….TETEKA DEWE

Do not doubt Kabimba he is a right man for the job.Why full of perssimism?for upnd should really be very carefull when commenting on the constitution,why? Because these pipo fully participated on the unpopular ncc which president SATA foresaw it that it would not work.For them, they were so adamant together with their friends in the defunct mmd.Itelligent pipo like president SATA knew way before that the thing would not gonna work.So they are not the right pipo to be commenting on these matters.

Psalm 91 for Hakainde Hichilema (HH)
1 Hakainde Hichilema (HH) dwells in the shelter of the Most High
and he will rest in the shadow of the Almighty not matter what Sata and his minions does.
2 God will always be HH’s refuge and my fortress, in whom he trusts because his safety is genuine!
3 Surely God will save HH from PF’s snares and from their deadly politics.
4 God will cover HH with his feathers,
and under his wings HH will find refuge;
God’s faithfulness will be HH’s shield and rampart.
5 HH will not fear PF’s terror of night,
nor lies that flies by day,
6 nor PF politics of hatred that stalks in the darkness,
nor the desperation that destroys at midday.
7 A thousand may fall at God’s side,
ten thousand at his right hand,
but it will not come near HH.
8 We will only observe with our eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked PF regime run by satanists full of sedition.
9 God will always be HH’s refuge,”
and HH will make the Most High his dwelling,
10 no harm will overtake HH,
no disaster will come near HH’s house.
11 For God will command his angels concerning HH
to guard HH in all his ways as PF mark him for hatred and death;
12 they will lift HH up in their hands,
so that HH will not strike his foot against a seditious stone thrown at him by PF thugs.
13 HH will tread on the king cobra – chimbwi no plan;
HH will trample PF and the serpent Ukwa.
14 “Because God[b] loves HH so as to lead this country to prosperity and become like he is,” says the Lord, “God will rescue HH;
God will protect HH, for he acknowledges God’s name through the poor he is serving and has employed in his companies.
15 HH will call on God, and God will answer him;
God will be with HH in trouble caused by PF,
God will deliver HH and honour him.
16 With long life God will satisfy HH
and show him his great plans and salvation for Zambia.
Viva HH!

@lukwesa, God did not go to sleep when He put HH to be ruled by Sata for the next 5yrs.
@Isaac. Winter spoke as PF SG that his party was NEVER going to accept the 50+1 & many other contentious issues. I wouldnt waste time on him
