FAZ Mission In Kampala Not Impressed With Nambole Stadium Pitch

Football Association of Zambia, FAZ vice president Boniface Mwamelo has led a delegation of the local soccer governing body on a check of facilities in Kampala. Mwamelo has since expressed reservations with the state of the Uganda national Stadium at Namboole – the Nelson Mandela Stadium.

Zambia plays Uganda on 14 October in the return leg of the final round of qualifying for next year’s Africa Cup finals in South Africa. The African champions carry a one nil lead into the second leg, having won at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium courtesy of a Chris Katongo goal.

The findings of Mwamelo and his FAZ delegation means Herve Renard will have to psyche his champion players to expect a tougher match in conditions that will make it difficult for a neat passing game.

A scrapy and ugly affair of survival could just be the way the champions protect their goal and possibly grab an away strike to make it to South Africa.
Uganda, despite not losing at their home ground for the last five years, have never qualified to the Africa Cup finals since 1978. In failing to qualify for the 2012 finals, they drew 0-0 with Kenya when they just needed a 1-0 win to progress. Angola instead qualified from their group.

Better to go there early and train on the bumpy ground also . I believe we can also play in those conditions if we prepare . Camping in South Africa is not such a good idea !

Iwe ci jordan, if you have trouble accepting that Chipolopolo are champions, you better have your head examined. That aside, we need modern stadia in this modern world, not the Kalukungu type.

2-1 loss we shall go through. But we need a win and Renard and Kalusha, ensure the guys trains in a stadium same as that of Uganda were the game will be played. No VIP treatment here. We lost a chance of scoring more goals here. We do not want any camping to South Africa.
By the way, why can’t we train in Sudan before the game in Uganda?

in football you employ all sorts of tricks. am seeing Uganda falling for this one,we are not talking about or the type of football they play but the stadium meaning we are not worried about them.it will be very hard for them to score us coz they will play under so much pressure from the home funs.the pressure will expose them at the back as all of their players will be wanting to move forward to score.am predicting 2 red cards for the home team a huge score line in favour of the mighty chipolopolo (zambia) the raigning african champions.
