‘Juju’ Allegations Against Katongo Annoy FAZ
THE Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has dismissed as rubbish claims that Chipolopolo skipper Christopher Katongo has been using some form of African magic that prevent his colleagues from scoring whenever he scores first.
On September 8 when Zambia played against Uganda, some soccer fans walked out of Levy Mwanawasa stadium shortly after Katongo put his name on the score sheet in the 20th minute as they were certain that Chipolopolo would not score again.

Despite Zambia emerging victorious, most soccer fans left Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola in displeasure.
The fans, who filled the 40, 280 to capacity and cheered the team from start to finish, felt the African champions will have themselves to blame if they fail to qualify for the Orange 2013 African Cup in South Africa.
Some soccer fans however who suspected use of African magic on Katongo’s part claiming that the magic used was making it difficult for anyone to score.
They reasoned that in the match against Ghana last April at the same venue, Katongo scored first and none of the Chipolopolo players managed to put the ball behind the net despite creating chances.
The soccer fans also claim that last February in the match against Equatorial Guinea during the Orange Africa Cup 2012 tournament, Katongo was the only scorer despite Zambia creating many opportunities to score.
Since September 8, these claims have grown stronger and stronger with some soccer fans writing on Facebook that Katongo should not feature in the return leg against Uganda.
“Wen our capten scores first, thiz problems are always there. The only time Zambia can win and score many goz is when other ‘neutral’ playaz like (Emmanuel) Mayuka scores first and then Katongo folloz.
“But this is not good. We might end up failin to Qualify to Afcon because of black Magic,” commented a soccer fan, identified as Tovin Ng’andu.
But when asked for a comment on the matter, FAZ communications manager Eric Mwanza dismissed the report saying it was rubbish.
“We won’t respond to such rubbish,” said Mwanza who sounded angry. “These rumours are rubbish and false. It’s not even story, its rubbish.”
Mwanza refused to comment further on the matter.
African football has long been associated with magic by some critics. Some African teams and individual players have been publicly accused of using African magic to enhance their football playing skills.
Early this year, former Ghana coach Goran Stevanovic attributed the Black Stars’ poor performance at the 2012 edition of the Africa Cup of Nations to use of African magic among players. According to Stevanovic, Ghana players were using black magic to compete against one another instead of the directing the “juju” against the opponent.

During the last Afcon final spot kicks, Katongo scored first and the other players scored the other seven goals apart from Clifford. Whats this shit people are talking about. I did well to leave Zambia. Could have become embroiled in the stagnated reasoning of most Zambians.

I can’t believe this is news. Zambians you hate good things coming your way. The fact that we are champnions has overwhelmed us to the point that we only think such is possible because of juju? Are we this allergic to success? This just goes to show that the PHD syndrome lies deeper than we think. When someone drives a new car you say Satanism, when someone is good at their craft you say juju. Should people start to limit themselves for fear of accusations by the public. Why is it easier to believe in Thiery Henry, David Beckham and all these other guys and yet believe it or not they too have ‘white magic’ in their countries. People work hard to perfect their craft. That’s why the earn certain titles and achieve certain levels of distinguishment. Usain Bolt that too is juju? Sanya Richrads Ross..juju? Why do you people hate success?

I know Katongo apart from the fact that he drinks liquor which many clergy in Asia, Europe, USA and advanced African countries do. He is a God fearing guy and he is on record that one of the first thing he searches for in his new place is a church that embraces his belief in God.
He is a hard working guy but if people believe wrongly about him and the games his is involved in, those people will experience what they believe and he will be busy enjoying his life freely while they languishing and rot in their beliefs.

It must be noted that, according to the scriptures in the bible,prostitution,witchcraft,sossering and magic are the oldest professions on the planet earth ever known to mankind.So mr Mwanza should not entirely answer on behalf of the players and rubbish all the people who are claiming some players to be using juju.He must as well remember that some of us talk to players individualy and what we hear from the players themselves can never be told to the FAZ excutive. Mr mwanza talk to the current strikers you have in the team to get it from the horses mouth.Then, remember what mr Dennis Liwewe was saying about the former kk 11 using the rihno dung to smear them selves before the much so as to be aggressive in the match.
