Evans Kangwa Nominated For 2011 Sports Honours

Zambia and Nkana striker Evans Kangwa including Zambia Under-20 coach Keagan Mumba have been nominated for the 2011 Zambia sportsman and coach of the year awards respectively.

The duo together with female footballer Kabange “Kalaba” Mupopo are the only high profile football personalities in line for the National Sports Council of Zambia honours to be handed to deserving sportsperson’s on September 29 in Lusaka.

Mupopo is in the race for the sportswoman of the year and junior award in the same category for 2011.

Kangwa was nominated after inspiring the Under-20 to retain their Cosafa Youth Championship title in 2011 in Botswana where he finished as top scorer on seven goals that also earned him a senior call up for the 2012 Africa Cup.

And Mumba’s Cosafa Youth Championship success was a factor including guiding his former charges and perennial strugglers Konkola Blades to a third place finish on the MTN/FAZ Super Division table last term.

He also guided Blades to its first cup final in 12 years when they finished runners-up in the 2011 Barclays Cup to Power Dynamos.
