Kabimba Ready To Quit If ACC Establishes Corrupt Elements In Him

Kabimba

Justice Minister Wynter Kabimba says he will not hesitate to quit as minister should the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) establish corrupt elements in the allegations against him.

Mr Kabimba is alleged to have acted as middlemen for Trafigura in the oil contract awarded by government.

Mr. Kabimba who is also Patriotic Front Secretary General has however charged that he will not be influenced by media reports to quit his position to pave way for investigations.

The Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia has asked President Michael Sata to allow Mr. Kabimba and his defence counterpart Geoffrey Mwamba to step down in view of investigations surrounding their alleged corrupt activities.

Mr. Kabimba was speaking to journalists in Lusaka this morning.

And Mr. Kabimba has expressed confidence that the PF adopted candidate for Mufumbwe Parliamentary by-election Steven Masumba will deliver victory to the ruling party.

He says the ruling party has gained ground in Mufumbwe and further calls for peaceful campaigns ahead of the pools.

Mr. Kabimba has also challenged political parties taking part in the by-elections to denounce violence and commit to issue based campaigns.

Even as someone still giving PF time, I would insist that sir you should step down even just as a gesture, even if you maintain your innocence. It is not about ACC establishing a case. It is about the fact that an investigation has been initiated. Furthermore, during this time of preparing a national constitution and judicial review, it is not favorable that the Ministry of Justice appears compromised or arrogant. You are also Secretary General of the party, and it could have bearing on that too. Please sir, you lose nothing if you’re innocent as you claim. You will only earn more honour and dignity which will go a long way in silencing your critics and increasing your support base. If you’re guilty on the other hand, apologize, resign, and let the law take its course. Its a question of honour and integrity in the system, especially the Justice system and the defence/secutrity sustem, this with reference to GBM, whom I in the same breath give the same advice.

It will be a bitter blow to the Patriotic Front should Hon. W. Kabimba and Hon. GB Mwamba be found wanting with allegations of this magnitude, 1 year into power and the room is becomng too hot!! I hope our Justice Minister, Hon. Kabimba recalls vehemnetly that on ZNBC TV on a Sunday interview with Franklin Tembo Jr. he stood in support of the corruption crusade that President Sata is waging, our President has repaetedly said he is allergic to corruption and will deal severely with any member of his government with proven to be involved in it.
I am not wishing ill to the PF government or it’s appointees but I am urging restraint, we have suffered for 47 years and we are expecting a lot from you as you won a popular vote. I urge the people of Zambia not to make conclusions but to give all implicated persons the benefit of innocent until proven guilty.

Forcing Kabimba to resign is very bad precedence, because what will happenn if he resigns today and after two weeks the ACC do not find a case against him and investigations are complete? , The Pres Sata appoints him again and another fellow comes up with some allegations against him and he resigns again and gets again appointed again and again and again. In as much as we might not like Kabimba, the fact that ACC are invistigating a Cabinet Minister is enough for the Government to show that corruption is being fought.

Kawimba and GBM cannot and will not resign, why? Because all these allegations are just cooked by the enemies of PF. High profile pipo of GBM and Wyner cannot do such a thng just few days of holding those positions. I can bet these pipo are clean nobody will find them wanting.

Mr Kabimba and Mr GBM i say be strong do not listen to these pipo who already have an agenda to put PF on test if at all is serious in fighting corruption. They have something in common which is to weaken the party. I repeat be strong, you are honourable enough to do what they accuse you of doing. If they are angrey with you let them hang themselves or plung themselves into deep waters and drown.

Mr Kabimba should resign ASAP, The Defence ministry is a very senstive one and hence needs a clean person. Even Dora, then minister of transport in mmd resigned to pave way for investigations when she had a case to answer.

Reading through the story, am imagining how PF would have reacted if it were them in opposition and cabinet Ministers involved in these scandals, Justice and Defence are sensitive ministries, please winter and GBM your conduct should be above par. Lets hope there are just allegations.

Just like you suspended the 3 judges accused of corruption and appointed a tribunal to investigate them I appeal to you Mr President to suspend the ministers of Defense and Justice and appoint a task force to investigate them. Your government has zero tolerance to corruption and it is important to maintain that perception even when your very own are accused.

Do u realize that currently there are succession issues in the PF as to who should b adopted 4 the 2016 elections, and that it all is favoring Wynter &GBM?
All these corruption allegations against the two honorables are bitter propaganda by some disgruntled individuals w/in the PF to turnish their images. Watch this space!

Country men and women. WMK has never been corrupt and has never wanted short cuts, never, at any level in his political career. The initiators of this allegation are enemies of President Sata and they fear that WMK may be next to take over the seat. Leave him alone. he is a clean man. Being Justice Minister has never excited WMK. he runs a law practice and does not need quick bucks from anywhere. Be reminded that the enemies of our beloved Party are in gear to sink the boat even when there is no wind. On GBM, well, the man has always been a businessman and the constitution does not stop him from running businesses. No one has told me that Zesco has already awarded him the contract to supply poles. So, has GBM lost the right to manage his business empire jus because he is a Defence Minister? Remember that GBM is not asking for a kick back, if a all that is what you want to hear. air anything, the man was to work by supplying. Is that a case? GBM spent so much to fund the PF, is it not right that he too can canvass for public tenders through his businesses? Are you saying that it was ok for GBM to fund PF but it’s not ok now for him to continue doing business? Stop the PHD syndrome imweeeeee!

I get a sense these things will repeat themselves faster in this PF term than Nigerian movies do on Africa Magic due to; 1. The rush to make quick bucks in these insecure appointments by Sata. 2. Sheer illiteracy or semi-illiteracy on the part of most PF appointees and 3. Inexperience and excitement by most PF appointees, all this by the whole Defence & Justice Ministers in just over 12 months? …..Kaya!

it is folly to think that you can be investigated by you juniors thats is nocense. kabimba should just resign his position for him to prove inocense. President sata can reappoint him, if proved inocense not they way he is taking things. who can he fool no one only a fool will take that rubbish. An inocent man is an inocent man whether in power or out of power it helps alot if you have no influence on any activities when you are being investigated. Sorry brother kabimba and GBM Resign plse.

It is not possible for ACC to investigate a sitting Minister, of Justice for that matter. So Wynter must resign to pave way for the investigation to take course.

If if the investigations prove him to be free of the allegations then he can be reinstated. For now, guilty or not, Wynter must step down.
