UNDER-20 national team midfielder Mukuka Mulenga has been summoned to the senior team that regrouped in Johannesburg yesterday to start preparations for this Saturday’s decisive 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Uganda.
Coach Herve Renard, who was with the junior team in Mali for last Friday’s 2013 African Youth Championship qualifier, drafted the Power Dynamos midfielder into the senior squad in a bid to strengthen the Chipolopolo ahead of the Kampala clash.
Mulenga’s inclusion brings to four the number of local players in the team.
Others are Danny Munyao and Joshua Titima and midfielder Thomas Nyirenda.
Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) vice-president Boniface Mwamelo said in an interview in Lusaka yesterday that Mulenga will join the team in Johannesburg today.
“We are just arranging his travel…he will not come back to Zambia but will fly from Nairobi to Johannesburg,” Mwamelo said.
Mwamelo is expected to leave for Kampala today in the advance party.
Portugal-based defender Emmanuel Mbola and the four local players left for Johannesburg yesterday.
Renard and his assistant Patrice Beaumille flew to Johannesburg directly from Bamako, while team manager Lusekelo Kamwambi and his assistant Stanley Kaseko arrived on Friday.
And Kamwambi said in an interview from Johannesburg yesterday that South Africa-based players were expected in camp last evening.
The South Africa-based legion are Kennedy Mweene, Davies Nkausu, Joseph Musonda, Kampamba Chintu and Noah Chivuta.
The Congolese-based players Hichani Himoonde, Francis Kasonde, Rainford Kalaba, Nathan Sinkala and Stopilla Sunzu are expected in camp today while China-based players James Chamanga, Isaac Chansa and Christopher Katongo are expected tomorrow alongside England-based striker Emmanuel Mayuka.
Others summoned for the must-win match are Sudan-based forward Jonas Sakuwaha, striker Jacob Mulenga who features for Dutch side FC Utrecht, Russia-based midfielder Chisamba Lungu, Israel-based midfielder William Njobvu, the Angola-based duo of Lawrence Phiri and Felix Katongo.
The team:

What happened to the so much fancied under 20 team who even store the lime light by scooping the picture of the picture of the day on movie Tv through dancing to the SECRETS song! Lmao @ Renard dancing like a a yoyo! Soccer Analysts where are you so that you tell us about your predictions of qualifying to the tournament! lol @ not even knowing when the bastards sneaked into the country! Zedians lets learn to call a spade a spade! Winning the African Cup does not guarantee that you will always win your oponents! Lets hope you all won’t hide your jerseys this coming Saturday! Lets publicise the under 20 results the way we publicised the pre training matches before the final game! Lmao @ wireless pomposity before the actual games

Mali – 0 Zambia – 3! Was this not a prediction by one of the so called seasoned analyst? One wonders if we really do watch the same Zambia Soccer Team! With the current crop of players, what really makes one have so much faith in the Zambian Team? The problem is that we easily forget! Despite losing someone will tell you that we played well – lol….What is playing well without winning? If you played well, then HOW did the winners play? Despite the loss, someone will still tell you that Zambia is better than Mali – what a joke! Wake up analyst and rise above being biased and partisan!
