UPDATE: Suspect Narrate How Ruth Was Raped And Drugged Before Her Killing
A KEY suspect in the horrendous killing of Ruth Mbandu, a Lusaka-based student, has given police gory details of the execution of the murder which shocked the nation.
Police, who confirmed the arrest of two suspects believed to be accomplices in the killing, said one of them has confessed and volunteered information, detailing that Ruth was raped by one of the suspects before they removed her facial skin and poked her eyes while she was still alive.
The eyes were packed in a plastic “for ritual purposes.”
Lusaka Province police commissioner Solomon Jere said the suspect, who was apprehended in Mpika where he had been hiding, is also believed to be linked to some rape cases in Mpika, in an attempt to distance himself from Ruth’s murder.
Dr Jere said the suspect, whose identity has been withheld for fear of jeopardising investigations, confessed that Ruth was ‘skinned alive’ while she was unconscious and died as a result of excessive bleeding.
The police chief said in an interview yesterday that Police have, however, not established whether the suspects are linked to five other suspects arrested earlier, adding that the investigation is likely to produce more surprises as it unfolds.
He said the suspect, who is in his 30s, narrated to Police that his group had been stalking Ruth for some time before they brutally pounced on her on the fateful day.
“This man (suspect) volunteered the information to Police and what he has told us is consistent with our own findings and this is a plus on our police officers. They hit Ruth on the head and bundled her into a bus, injected her with a chemical and she became unconscious,” Dr Jere said.
“We will know the whole truth because a normal person cannot do such a thing. Even me as commissioner of police, I am still shocked. We have had murders before but this one is a very strange murder.”
Dr Jere said the suspects involved in the case are sophisticated and that there are some “interesting names” connected to the murder of the National Institute for Public Administration student.
He said Police are also yet to determine the sponsor of the bizarre mission and that it is not true that police were hindered by black magic in investigating the matter.
“Whether there is black or white magic, Police will always pounce on the suspects. Members of the public should desist from condemning Police, but allow them to do their job and when we advise, you should have confidence in us, knowing well that we will get to the bottom of an issue,” Dr Jere said.
He said there is a likelihood of arresting more suspects and that Police only had two suspects by press time and that most of the suspects are Kanyama and Chibolya residents.

one surprising thing is that,why ruth and not any other girl.it is getting very interesting at this point that the truth is unfolding now.am sure the idiots have killed alot of souls but this ruth issue believe no one will go unpunished they have to pay;touch not my anointed ones but they touched against the will of GOD HENCE TIME TO PAY BACK.

Even if the prophecy needs to be fulfilled lets us have human hearts for one another. Ruth’s killing is beyond this world’s brutarity. Now Ican vote for sharia law because such cruel culprits just end up not jailed or killed at Mukobeko prisons in the name Zambia being a christian nation. Honestry what do people of this nature deserve? Its blood for blood. lets weed bad seeds before they grow. May Ruth’s spirit haunt who ever had a hand in her killing.

It is interesting that Ruth’s brutal death is coming unfolding. The first rule of investigation says at “every crime scene leaves traces or crues of a crime”, and that “the behaviour of a crime gives ideas about the characteristics of persons who might have commissioned such a crime”. These offenders were aware of the first rule, and did all that they could to avoid traces and crues. Who could these people be! could they be vulnerable people from Kawama.. or … When you look at the behaviour of the crime does it much with the characteristics of the suspects at hand… this is a question for us all. The big problem is that in this matter there are two characteristics of offenders. The Commissioners of the crime and the masterminders of a crime. In Zambian law, it is easy to let go masterminders of the crime and punish the commissioner of a crime. But who is dengerous in the system. Circumstantial and collaborative evidence does not give reliably testimony as to who might have commissioned a crime or who is behind the whole crime. Most of people in our jails could be innocent and victims of our criminal process. Look at the characteristic of a person who removed a face from Ruth and look at the type of the bishop and others behind bars. Do they mutch! The media says Ruth was pregnant and the mother was single at the time of a crime. Such a brutal death the mother was very strong and able to freely stand up and talk to the MUV TV media. What is the meaning of this…! I am not saying she is involved yet NO.. why did the family rush to allow the burial of a brutal deaths….. aah..aah. Good the Police are saying we should not blame the system of investigation.. but why wouldn’t we…! Lets dig deep otherwise individual testimony may mislead us and convict wrong people. Let the investigators take into account that people can be hired to give false individual or group testmonies for money so that they get to jail in order to save their families from poverty. The investigations on Ruth should include among others the forensic and clinicians. There is a need for scientific evidences, lie detectors etc. etc. to get involved. Come on Zambia… this is the time the Police and the Judiciary who expose their credentials and professionalism than politicing on judial reviews.
