HERITAGE party president Godfrey Miyanda says the PF has persistently lowered the quality of debate of national issues and reduced politics to ‘bus stop noise’.
Commenting on labour minister Fackson Shamenda’s observation that he was still injured, bitter and chocked by the PF’s victory in last year’s general elections following his assessment of the PF in government which he described as a joke, Brig Gen Miyanda advised the government to upgrade the quality of debate so that less informed citizens could benefit from the exchanges.
“Yes I may have failed so far, but the greater failure is by Shamenda and his PF team who have persistently lowered the quality of debate of national issues and reduced politics to bus stop noise…In any case my statement was advisory so they are free to take it or leave it. I reiterate what I said in my statement that the days of Shaka Zulu are gone, never to come back. Any government that ignores this will sooner than later find that the carpet has been pulled from under their feet,” Gen Miyanda stated. He stated that the response Shamenda gave lacked depth and was devoid of substance as he did not answer the issues that were raised.
Gen Miyanda stated that until the government provided a factual response, his clear statement remained solid and unassailed.
“However, I take exception to the unjustified defamatory personal attacks on me. At no time have I ever claimed to be a Man of God and I challenge him, if he is not a liar, to name the day and time and place where I made such a claim.
I am not a malicious person nor do I harbour hatred against those who have offended or mistreated me, as evidenced by my preventing the hounding out of Dr Kenneth Kaunda from State House by some in PF now who were bent on retribution. I pleaded to let Dr Kaunda stay a little longer in State House and I found an alternative residence for Dr Chiluba to facilitate a smooth transfer of power,” he stated.
Gen Miyanda stated that in his statement, he did not discuss the performance of his party but the PF.
“As for my failure I accept that fact without reservation and will work on all the weaknesses that the Heritage Party has identified. I accept my failure to convince Zambians that their village is their first step and gateway towards their independence and prosperity.
But I am disappointed that Honourable Shamenda is ashamed, like many Zambians, of his village yet he moves around with his National Registration Card in his pocket, proudly displaying the name of his village and his chief! If the PF believe that the village is a simplistic matter then they do not deserve to be in government,” he stated.
Gen Miyanda advised Shamenda and the PF to learn to receive ideas and analyse them without emotion.
On the size of the membership of the Heritage Party, Gen Miyanda stated: “I want to advise Mr Shamenda and his team that what was big yesterday will become small tomorrow and what is small today will be big tomorrow. None of us can predict the future with certainty. Let him laugh at me today; tomorrow is another day.”

Words of wisdom.
Why is this man not the president?
But then again, if he became president he would become corrupt and authoritative just like KK, Chiluba, Mwanawasa, RB and Sata – because the State House is HAUNTED!

I think General Miyanda is right, a more mature approach and acceptance of criticism and advice should be the guiding principles of governance, other than out-right condemnation of all opposing views.

Miyanda is right, PF leaderships jumps @ every chance they get to defend themselves. Sometimes learn to listen to opposing view and get sense from what they offer you. You cannot claim to be all-wise, listen and learn only then will you deliver to our expectations. Respect to Miyanda for you calmness in critiquing the government.

He is not President because he is rigid. He finds evil in everyone else except himself. I like him as a person but maybe he needs to accomodate others, including non Christians. He borders on being fundamentalist. Leadership is given. So with all due respect sir, embrace MCS and pray for him. That way you stand a chance of being President. I also think he has a subtle pride. Levy invited him to be VP but he declined, insisting that the President goes to him in person. Tht is how RB ended up as VP and President

It does not mean that when one becomes a leader then they are the wisest. A case in hand is what we currently have in zambia where it is so embarasing for the first time to have a president like Mr Sata.

Why are we always missing out on having the correct people as presidents? For example, The Mwanawasa we needed for President was the one we had before he got involved in that road traffic accident. And similarly, the right person to succeed him should’ve been Gen Miyanda. The man has the body, voice, brains, composure and total image of a president!

I am a professional accountant for Lumumba Bus Station, I strongly believe in service delivery. I always take strong exception to people who believe that Bus station are for poor, uneducated citizenry that do not add value to national development and discussions, Honorable Miyanda says pf has reduced Zambian Politics to Bus stop Noise is really disappointing, at the so called bus stops – you will find captains, former Senior Managers of Parastals, young ACCA,ZICA and CIMA accountants etc please Honorable reseach before you make a statement, Life is so dynamic remember you once worked as a taxi driver – you are also a Bus stop Politician product. Do not shot yourself in the foot. God bless.

that fact he was a taxi driver then he qualifies to make that statement as he understand the type of politics in bus stations.

Good rebuttal from General Miyanda. Again we do not expect people with bus stop mentality to understand what general Miyanda is saying. For them Sata is the wisest & the most knowledgeable person in Zambia, which is very unfortunate because their man is nowhere closer to understanding anything that requires intellect.

HE IS A NO NONSENSE PRESIDENT AND DISCIPLINE IN THIS COUNTRY WOULD RETURN.
BY THE WAY ARE YOU AWARE THAT DUE TO LACK OF TOILETS IN THE CITY, SOME DWELLERS SHIT IN PLASTICS AND THESE ARE THRONE ALL OVER?
SANITATION LEVELS IN TOWN ARE SO LOW. ZAMBIA IS THE THE DIRTIEST COUNTRY IN CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN AFRICA.
MIYANDA WOULD NOT TOLERATE SUCH NONSENSE
