The UPND has written a letter notifying the police on their intention to hold a peaceful procession to Parliament building. In their letter to the police the UPND state that they intend to present a petition to the Parliamentarians to stop the “illegal” allocation of K1.4billion towards the construction of President Sata’s retirement house and K20bn towards the constitution making process which the UPND allege has no legal framework.
According to a letter addressed to the commissioner of police and obtained by The Supreme Times, dated 5 November 2012 and signed by UPND deputy chairperson for finance Kuchunga Simusamba, the UPND is notifying the police of its intention to hold a peaceful procession from its secretariat in Lusaka’s Rhodespark area to Parliament building on 15th November,2012.
The letter states that the reason for the demonstration is to present a petition to the Parliamentarians.
The MMD has already vowed to support UPND president Hakainde Hichilema’s advise to Members of Parliament not to support the allocation of K 1.4 billion the 2013 national budget for the construction of President Michael Sata’s retirement house because it is illegal and immoral.
MMD Deputy National Secretary Chembe Nyangu said it was immoral for Finance Minister Alexander Chikwanda to allocate such an amount of money for the construction of a house for a sitting President when that of the late Presidents Fredrick Chiluba and Levy Mwanawasa have not even been constructed.
According to the law, the acquisition or construction of the former head of state’s house can only take place within a period of two years after leaving office.

is retirement paid before someone actually reaches retirement? those of you who know labour matters can you tell me what would happen the retirement benefits for those who die in service? does the surviving spouse get retirement benefits for the dead spouse even if he did not reach retirement,or do they get other benefits? or is it different for presidents?

its like the PF governemnt enjoys going against what the constitution says. the sad thing is that some boot lickers are even praising the government for going against the government. Enough is Enough, the next time Sata goes against the constitution he should be impeeched.

HH you have started again why dort you listen and learn we have told you that you will need to build structures in swing provinces if you want to win if you want to see hope of geting state house in 2024 thats if the constutions will allow you because we are busy contributing to the consitution to make it better for your ground children,if thats the path you want to take you will be disappointed ,so matching to state house on petty issues will not take you anyway but will reduce you to a be jealous man and just bring confusions, learn from PF when they lost from MMD three times they had held rallies in western province and all over just after losing, Take your cardres for a retrity and go to the drawing board for 2 months,I am afraid President Sata is a very experienced politician whom if the way the opposition is behaving it will be difficuilt to challenge him, I like Nawakwi and Chipimo they know how to oppose and offer solutions.I have told you dort behave like a noise maker in a grade 2 class, Zambians are very civilized and when you look at each election it is a step ahead of most countries in the world so I tell you those youths whom you give beer and beef from you fathers farm will be laughing the way they did when you lost the general election after finishing your money and its unfair for your family HH stay at home you children needs you, infact we will extend chapters to the constutions review that in Zambia when you lose three times you should not stand again to avoid losing candidates misleading members of public or suffering from what i might call “losing sydrome” which we are seen in some opposing members.
