Kalaba Trains as Renard Awaits Chisamba to Complete Squad

Herve Renard had an almost full house at Monday’s afternoon training session at Johannesburg’s Milpark Training center ahead of Wednesday’s showdown against South Africa.

Russian based midfielder Chisamba Lungu will join the squad on Tuesday afternoon after featuring for second placed and Division One promotion chasing side Ural on Monday night.

Angola based Felix Katongo and TP Mazembe quartet of Rainford Kalaba, Nathan Sinkala, Stopilla Sunzu and Hichani Himonde were all part of the afternoon session though it is unclear whether Renard will unleash Kalaba at Soccer City Stadium on Wednesday night.

With the late arrival of Chisamba and Kalaba a doubtful, though could be a change of guard in the starting personnel against Gordon Igesund’s side which are under pressure to prove a point against their Southern African arch-rivals and African Champions.

England based Emmanuel Mayuka and the returning Jacob Mulenga from Dutch side FC Utrecht, both trained with team and looked sharp in training. Israeli based William Njobvu is also in camp.

Skipper Chris Katongo and his Far East based pals Isaac Chansa and James Chamanga traveled with the technical bench and local players from Lusaka on Sunday to link up with the recalled Collins Mbesuma and his South African based co.

Of the local players, though Mukuka ‘Deco’ Mulenga has been receiving rave views and tipped to win the 2012 Zambian Player of the Season, it is Shadreck Malambo’s eye catching performance at Sunset Stadium when he nullified Mukaka and his Power Dynamos teammates that caught the eye and left many talking about the Red Arrows’ workaholic box to box midfielder.

Malambo and man of the match Stanley Nshimbi were a marvel to watch in the engine room, and a repeat of that kind of performance later this month when a shadow Chipolopolo tour India could see the teenage midfielder claim to be Isaac Chansa and Nathan Sinkala’s understudy at next year’s African Cup of Nations.

Back to Wednesday’s match, the Chipolopolo Boys are expected to have a feel of Soccer City Stadium on Tuesday night.
