UPND Members Happy With MMD’s Loss In Mufumbwe
The opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) says it does not regret supporting the Movement for Multi-party Democracy (MMD) in the Mufumbwe parliamentary by-election.
The UPND had thrown its weight behind the MMD in just ended by-election won by the PF candidate Steven Masumba.
UPND Secretary General Winston Chibwe says if the party was going to regret its support to the MMD, it would have been at the point it made the decision to back the former ruling party.
Mr. Chibwe says it was just unfortunate that the opposition did not get the Mufumbwe seat.
He says the party will in future elections independently work extra hard to get more seats in parliament.
Mr. Chibwe has however congratulated the ruling Patriotic Front for scooping the Mufumbwe seat.
And a source within the UPND has disclosed that some members are happy that their electoral pact partner lost the Mufumbwe seat to the PF party.
The source said MMD President Nevers Mumba had become big headed as he thought that the MMD was stronger in Mufumbwe thereby undermining the UPND.
The source has hoped that the MMD has learnt a lesson following its loss in Mufumbwe and that it would learn to show regard for other parties in future election when it decides to form an electoral pact.

Aisha chakayuma. Ndakasola Kubagwasya ba MMD. We lost clean game. I intend to resign as UPND president because I have failed lamentably. But those are just intentions.

The saddest part of our politics now is that we have two very opinionated leaders of opposition who only want to listen to themselves! This Mumba and HH. They are so entrenched in their own false belief that they alone are the only people who can bring change. They can’t work together and they can’t see that their actions are completely destroying what was supposed to be formidable opposition. They are killing democracy. The sooner they realise and come to their senses, the better for our democracy.
