Clifford Mulenga Can Play for Zambia – FAZ

Clifford Mulenga

Discarded Zambia international Clifford Mulenga is eligible for selection to the national team despite his expulsion from the team earlier this year, Zambian officials have confirmed.

Mulenga was sent home after breaking curfew at the Africa Cup of Nations finals in January and missed out the glory of Zambian success in the tournament.

He has since been ignored by the Zambians, through the mid-year World Cup qualifiers and the 2013 Nations Cup qualifiers.

He was also not called up for the midweek friendly in Johannesburg against South Africa, although would not have been able to play because he is injured.

Football Association of Zambia general secretary George Kasengele says there is no ban on Mulenga being selected and the sole decision rests with the coach Herve Renard.

Recently the Chipolopolo Soccer Fans’ Association, a supporters’ body, called on Renard to give Mulenga a second chance in the squad yeas. He was expelled after Zambia’s win over Sudan in the 2012 quarterfinals in Equatorial Guinea.

The CSFA said the Zambian team needed more options in front of goal which Mulenga gives.

Yes, Clifford is a good player no doubt about that, but the coach knows the ACTUAL reasons why he is not being called to play for the national team. At the moment the current Chipolopolo is enjoying good inter-player interraction let alone warm relationships with both government and the private sector when it comes to sponsorship. No one should be allowed to destroy the achievements made so far.
Clifford should only be considered if he has fully repented lest he resurfaces only to cut short our AFCO 2012 honeymoon.

The key trait with the Chipolopolo is team spirit which is very intact, Zambia got lots of talent and options upfront and that Clifford knows better that his services are very ‘disposable’ this not a one-man-team like our west African brother teams where if Drogba aint playing then the team wont perform! So if Clifford thought he could be nasty and full of BS and though Zambians and the Team will feel his absence, he was wrong. Yes he apologized but but he broke one cardinal rule and principle – Team Spirit. So he can go to hell, but if we take him back we will at our own time and liking.

They brought it already without him. No doubt he has talent, but its nothing out of this world. For me discipline and team spirit will take zambia far. Football, unlike Tennis is a team game. Mbesuma was dropped for losing form. I agree with Renard, when someone else is coach, they will call Clifford. How many of you remember the name Emanuel Zulu? The best talent after Kalu. But lack of discipline killed him

Same story. This is not news it has been earlier.
Give him the chance, National Team is not for specific players.

The back bone of coach renards success is discpline and there is no room for a player who is indiscplined in the team, Clifford is not super talented after all, he is not like messy to Agentina, or Drogba to ivory coast, in fact Mukuka is comming up so well,if he is called back because of public out cry the boy will grow big headed , in his playing time Kalu never even behaved like clifford yet he was a more dependable player than clifford. Renard is right clifford can wait

Guys, lets learn to forgive..look to what happened to Mbesuma, many pipo started blaming him but today he is our Hero.
Let us not just blame a player or coach bcoz we differ the way we reacts to some situations.

Am happy that there are many soccer fans who feel like me going by comments put forward. Clifford is insensitive to discipline and for that he can hang.
