Dear Editor,
I am a concerned worker at Zambia Railways Kitwe who is worried about the rate at which the Railway line is being damaged. Just here at the station (Kitwe) Jerabohs are busy digging (mining) the railway yard for mine material.
The user department says they are cleaning (screening) the traffic yard but they are not dumping the refuse they sell it for it contains Copper Concentrate ore. This is done in broad daylight in full view of the Security.
If you think it may make for good NEWS please visit the Railway station so as to inform the Nation better. The President ushered in a new CEO and if the line will be vandallised like this, he will be faced with a harder task than he invisioned cause the line is literally being moved.
When approached by Zambia Police Officers, the Jerabohs openly answered that money had changed hands and all they have come to do is pick their product. So the State Police say they can not halt the ‘illegal’ mining but it is the state in which the line is being left.

my appeal to law enforcement officers is that, pliz let us realise that lawlessness in a country brings a lot of untold misery.
jerabos have been a problem just like the famous zambia star boys of mine masala in ndola at one time in 80′s,take a leaf from the police at that time who managed to bring sanity to ndola.
GOD WILL REWARD HE THAT SERVES HIS PEOPLE FAIRLY.YOU CAN GET BRIBES OR WHATEVER GOD WILL PUNISH YOU.REMEMBER THAT ACCIDENT NEAR ST ANTHONY WHERE POLICE OFFICERS DIED,KALULUSHI RAIL ROAD CROSSING EARLY THIS YEAR.

Mr. President do something. I salute you for the appointment of Mr.Clive Chirwa, as chief executive for ZR.
Why should we still see heavy cargo trucks destroying our roads, yet we have railways in this country. Anway; Appointing inefficient managers like Mr. Akashambatwa, has killed this important industry. Tazara had problems; but have escalated to greater heights during the tenure of Mr. Aka. The man is a failure.
On destruction: The same thing is happening with Tazara. In most siding stations, (side)truck rails have been uprooted, in the name of maintenance Its very sad. I really appreciate the role rail networks play in the development of economies in most countries, but; what we are seeing in this country is so different. Its deeply saddening to see these failed managers who can’t perform, still holding offices and continue destroying the already built infrastructures.

The police service is corrupt, not only are the officers recieving bribes from jerabos but they are jerabos themselves.
