Slavery in Nakonde Exposed at Eagle Private School
Dear Editor,
I am a concerned parent with 2 kids at the so called Eagle School of Excellence in Nakonde. My concern is that teachers at this school work from 6hrs-16hr without getting their salaries. Some teachers called it quit last term because of this poor management. To make matters worse, the teachers are voiceless because whoever speaks out is instantly fired. Among the private schools in Nakonde, Eagle has the highest enrolment of over 450 pupils from G1-7 who pay school fees in full on the opening day.
It is owned by Allan Kaoma whose phone no. is 097******. A teacher talked to said even the salary is too little as compared to the number of pupils at school. He said he can only work hard and willingly if he was receiving what he deserves in time.
This has also affected learners despite them being innocent since they pay money in time. When our children went to Lusaka for educational tour, he demanded to keep their pocket money but where not given their money. Our children complained bitterl y that they were given sugar solution (zigolo).
Therefore we appeal to people in authority to investigate this matter and help teachers who will then deliver effectively to our children. Ever since they opened schools, these teachers only got paid once and they are about to close. The minister Maloza Sichone and the Labour minister Shamenda Fuckson should come in and help please!!

Sour grapes eminating from my competitors. 1.If teachers are not paid they could have left the school 2.For Eagle school to have the highest enrolment it means parents have seen something tangible 3.Eagle school is the only school that takes pupils for edu tours, can pupils survive on zigolo for four days? 4.Eagle school is the only school that pays its workers above minimum wage 5.You have felt the heat of competition, hence resorting to cheap propaganda. We would leave it to parents and pupils to make a conclusion out of the nonsense and primitivity you have shown. 6.Whilst you concentrate on singing, we will as ever concentrate on literacy and provision of quality education. This is non of my business because the issue here sound more of jealousy but, Kaoma, the government has not announced the minimum wage for teachers. Are you paying your teachers just above the minimum wage for domestic workers? Please employ teachers you can keep so that they become experinced since by your credentials, you have been schooled and you can be develop them. Please do not over react to this. Just take it as building block because you cannot improve if you cannot identify your weaknesses. So write to the auther of this and thank him for offering free advise. The only problem we have in Zambia is that most of the private schools are owned by people who are not educationists. If there is a school that motivates teachers and pupils in Nakonde, it is Eagle School of Excellence. Let the powers that be visit the school anytime and they will find out the truth. My teachers have never gone a month without pay infact we pay on the dot. Eagle school is the only school with well qualified staff and manager with proper qualification and experience. “Mukaye mukushitisha ifitumbuwa nganamufilwa private school” leave the business to people with knowledge ” people will not entertain mediocrity, they want their children to read and write, then become useful citizens.

450 pupils quiet a big school and I am sure they meet the conditions to run a private school. if its true its you parents to help the teachers. Remove your children from the school. Take them do other schools. What is the PTA doing? I doubt the story.

I think these teachers have got pre-school certificates. Why not joining the govt and enjoy the ATM cards? Study and leave that private school. U are slaves indeed.

Abena Kaoma baume, ask genuine headteachers of Nakonde they will tell you how innovative he is. Ask teachers from Nakonde basic how he motivates teachers. I respect him. Iyi story yabufi coz we see eagle teachers get good awards every year. Ni ziiiii!!!

I’m a former teacher of Eagle School. Mr. Kaoma is a genious who knows how to work with people. I worked at Eagle for 2 years and we never at 1 point go withou pay. He employs teachers who are waiting to be deployed by govt hence change of trs every after govt deployment. He is generally a very good person to work under. I’m now at Nakonde Basic.

Bakaoma allan, stop being childish and boastful. You do not respond or defend yourself in susch a manner. You sound intelligent tho very dull. The best was for you call for a meeting with stakeholders, parents, pupils, teachers and education office DEBS. To discuss issues raised and minutes taken to clean your name. Do that now and come out clean.
Otherwise, next time do not expose yo pomp in public over allegations.

It sounds like the writer is not realy a parent but one of the teachers who cannot come out in the open and complain. Why should a parent complain about teachers salaries instead of his child’s poor performance?
