UPND Says ‘God Did Not Create a Special Tribe to Rule Zambia’
The opposition UPND in Southern Province has charged that God did not create a special tribe to rule Zambia.
UPND Livingstone District Spokesman Neto Habalwa told Journalists in Livingstone that there is no tribe in Zambia that is more special than others.
Mr. Habalwa argued that some political opponents rush to accusing the UPND of tribalism because they cannot compete with the party’s principles, ideologies and its vision for Zambia.
He said the tribal accusations are a cheap ploy by some politicians to demonize the UPND and reduce its chances of forming the next government.
Mr. Habalwa said the UPND realizes that its huge support in the Southern Province maybe misunderstood hence the decision to start penetrating other regions.
He said the senior party leadership is aware that to win a general election, the UPND needs to get votes from across the country.
Mr. Habalwa appealed to Zambians to be fair when judging the UPND and the Tongas in general using the tribal card.
He said it is a fact that Tongas are not tribal compared to other regions adding that Zambians should look beyond tribe when choosing their leaders.

Yebo tonga bull, Cant you do a good research on the the current and from presidents their tribes and origin.
You will see among other things that no single tribe have so far ruled zambia, but we have 2 from the same region. Thats Dr Kaunda and Sata but have different tribes all together. we had kafupi Chiluba from Luapula with his own tribe, RB Bwezani from malawi with his own tribe, Levy from central/CB with his own tribe, so what are u talking about u must be very deal, look tribe are many in zambia

The very fact that we as UPND keep mentioning these things points to one thing – we are tribal.Count how many southerners campaigning for MPship on other party tickets have been given the vote in the Southern Province. They can’t be voted for because they are betrayers! Look at how HH assumed UPND presidency! How did Saki and Chisanga leave the party? Why do we have sentiments like, “Now it is for a tonga to rule Zambia?” Go to the convention tomorrow and see who will take over from HH – it will be another tonga. So these are cardinal issues we need to address as a party for us to go national

Once you start mentioning tribes in your political speech, it is not easy to convince people that you are not a tribalist. UPND should tell it’s leaders to avoid making speeches on tribes because this is consolidating others peoples beliefs that it is a tribal party. Talking will not convince people that you are not a tribalist, ACTIONS will signal to other people how you feel about them. The late Mazoka’s actions convinced Zambians that he was a many for all the people and people responded. UPND leadership has to change because it’s popularity is shrinking under the current leadership. If the party had added, on the foundation of Mazoka, UPND would be running the government now!

Infact, the more you complain about tribes the more we perceive you to be tribally minded. All you think about each time you see someone is what tribe they are. The only problem with some opposition Parties’ that they campaign on tribal lines, instead of attracting members you only end up causing political strife & tribalism. Learn to focus on real matters affecting the nation if you are to win majority voters in the next elections.

Zambia has 72 tribe so it might take another 72 years for some tribe to rule & this inculdes the Bantustan.Unless u say UPND is Tonga then we will shoot down any move to Tongalise Zambia but the time you realise that Zambia is bigger than Tonganyoko tribe then you have a chance of votes from other 71 tribe to vote for a Tonga which is impossible unless you remove the Tonga DNA in yop blood.

As far as am concerned the only tribe mentioned in the story is Tonga, no other tribe was mentioned. As usual chaps from the guilty tribe have gone into tantrums calling Tongas all sorts of names. Who mentioned your tribe you monkeys? Your dull & illiterate tribesmen can be presidents but you will remain poor as individuals because you are lazy. I endorse the contents of the article and there is absolutely nothing wrong with UPND are saying ..that they need to penetrate other provinces if they are to be voted into power. UNIP or remants of it only exists in Eastern Province but no one accuses them of being a tribal party, so why do you hate southerners so much? Is it b’coz they are PROUD?

Its very true that tongas shall 4eva remain foreigners in their country Zambia.
Its like one is proposing love to a lady and is always exhibiting hatred to her husband of 4 kids.
Fellow Zedians lets put away any form of hatred.
