Allow me to air my concern about the only supermarket/the only shop we have in the township of Lumwana – Quicksave; It’s quite big enough but the problem we the residents are facing are;
1. Goods on the shelves are usually expired.
2. The fridges are filled with rotten meat and fish that you can’t stand the stench in the shop.
3. The manager can’t even give you attention when complaining to him. My plea is, there’s a Health Department in Barrick headed by Dr Tembo, can’t he chip in and help us out?
The same barrick doesn’t allow any other shop to open up on the site but only Quicksave, why can’t they protect us as well?
Mimi.

Teaches you a lesson; thats how our friends operate. They look after each other while giving you guns to kill each other as is the case in Congo. The other day i met a girl, working hard saying i want to complete my degree because i have an offer in “Solwezi”; I couldnt believe my ears. Yet I do not think they have gone to CBU to offer the same post to Cost Engineering graduates at CBU; but they are busy offering to kids outside Zambia.

Busted! I’ve just come from quicksave and I failed to buy eggs! The smell of some rotten eggs was so horrible not to talk of the fresh meat and fish. The excuse a worker there gave was “fridges are malfunctioning”. Shame on Barrick

Your are right mimi with your concern.Its high time we needed more competitors on site and tuckled this ordeal from allowing entertaining unsuitable trader to be the only one trading.
We need to enslaved from monopoly and allow other traders to come on board and give a hand to quick save and this your doctor Tembo I evev wonder where he acquired his degree from coz hez never authoritave,he can never decide insteady he just sends incident flash reports which a safety clerk should be doing.
I rest my case!

The shop in question is pathetic and most of the food stuffs are indeed rotten or and expired for real, they are busy blocking investors to come and compete, with their so called draconian rules. People in lumwana stay like slaves in their own country. More often than not you go to the shop to buy a simple thing, u will not find it and they keep on saying the truck is on the way, alas for a year it won’t reach then u begin to wonder.

Hi everyone?I have been informed that you have been suffering too much in terms of Health & Safety standards especially in the T/ship despite having 10 Managers who have confined themselves in that small office.10 Managers against 5000 people no wonder the rotten meat at quicksave.And who promoted Dixon Tembo as Health & Safety manager??? I left a very competent person there by the name of Daniel Chisanga,has left Lumwana for you to put Dixon who is a pathologist???that gentleman is only capable to be used as rubber stamp because he cant even schedule a serious inspection.Mimi talk to Grace Mutale who is Environmental Manager maybe she can organise some govt inspectors to come and conduct a proper inspection on quicksave or is it ATS.I WILL BE BACK!!!

When i was there i felt to work with this chap called Dixon Tembo bcoz he couldnt do anything to improve safety standards in the pit.I had to get one of his staff from him by de name of Daniel Chisanga who had to work day n nyt to develop and implement the safety standards in de pit.If he could not do that somewhere close to him wat abt de T/ship which is 8 KM/h away from him.Mimi dearest just go and seek govt’s'intervention and stop thinking abt Dixon Tembo who. Can only do something after being Instructed by his Boss.

Hey!!Beavan Jones young man it’s good to hear from you after such a long time.Confirm u’re around Asussie or you out looking for green pastures???Am told that even this young man Tim Wride has gone back to Lumwana,Zambia,anyway it’s'ok for him beacuse Operators love him so much after he dished them with those very big “UKWA BAGS”.And i know that Time Wride is competent for that position in Malundwe pit,i just hope that he will not be frustrated by this new Mine manager who speaks bemba like he’s'from Kasama.Time Wride stay strong,I’ll talk to Operators so that they can remember you in prayers bcoz not only are they your workers but you care for them too.Cheers…N.G.
