Dear Editor,
We have sent you a copy which has been written to Justice Chikopa requesting him to consider going back to Malawi after the Zambian High Court granted an injunction against the tribunal which he is supposed to chair against the three judges suspended by President Sata after his two friends complained against the ruling by one of the suspended judges ordering them to pay back the K14billion they owe the Development Bank of Zambia. Immediately after suspending the three justices, President appointed Justice Chikopa of Malawi to chair the inquiry called to probe the allegations against the three judges. But the Judges went to court to challenge their suspension and an injunction was granted. however the state appealed against the High Court ruling. It is now over three months since an appeal was made. and there is no indication that the ruling will be made any time soon. in the mean time Justice Chikopa is here staying at the very luxurious hotel in Lusaka at the expense of poor Zambians that pay the taxes on which he is surviving. it is against this background that, Justice Chikopa is asked to consider going back home.
resident Michael Sata greets Malawi High Court judge Lovemore Chikopa after he swore him in as chairperson of the tribunal tasked to investigate the alleged misconduct of suspended Supreme Court judge Philip Musonda, High Court judge Nigel Mutuna and Charles Kajimanga at State House on Tuesday May 15, 2012

Honourable Justice Chikopa,
Ref: Spare Zambia’s Taxpayers Money By Considering Going Back Home
Whereas the High Court for Zambia has stayed the tribunal, which you were supposed to chair to established the authenticity of the complaint raised against some adjudicators in the Zambian judicial system by some private individual that share a good relationship with the Executive, pending the out come of the Supreme Court for Zambia on the matter;
And whereas it has been established that, your continued stay at Intercontinental Hotel in Lusaka is at the expense of the Zambian Tax Payers;
We, as Zambia Direct Democracy Movement, write to appeal to your conscience to consider advising the Zambian government to allow you to go back home and do some other important issues as you continue to wait for an appeal against the decision of the High to Stay the Tribunal you where supposed to chair. We also feel, it is in the interest of justice for you to give room for the Supreme Court to make decision on the appeal against the High Court decision to stay the tribunal. We believe that your continued staying in the country waiting for the Supreme Court of Zambia to determine whether or the appeal by the state against the High Court decision to stay the tribunal was meritorious is contemptuous because the action can easily be interpreted to mean that, the out come of the appeal has already been predetermined.
Depending on the out come of the decision by the Supreme Court for Zambia, the people of Zambia through their representatives in government will advice you on the next move as to whether you can come and hear the complaint or otherwise.
Our appeal is without malice or any ill intention whatsoever for it has been necessitated by a bona fide cause. Our immediate concerned is the huge amount of money being spent on your continued stay at your luxurious hotel. The same money could used to addressed the problems the country is faced. As you already know by that currently, Zambia is faced with challenges in the field of health, education and agriculture.
We have a situation where farmers are still going unpaid for the products they sold in the last farming season. The money being spent by government to sponsor your stay at the hotel could be used to pay farmers and sponsor an interparty dialogue meeting to resolve our own problems which include your coming to Zambia.
Yours in national interest

Shame on all those who are trying to justify this day light robbery.

Meembe “the post newspaper” is so happy about this…what a shame!! Mmeembe tried so much to influence this case but has failed. He (Mmembe) thought it was going to be easy to run away from the K14 billion debt cos he put his “master”in power….
