Mayuka in Troubled Waters as Southampton Look to Sign New Striker

FILE PICTURE: Mayuka unveiled as a Saints Player

Southampton manager Nigel Adkins is reported to be looking at signing a new striker next month during the coming transfer window which brings to question Southamptons prospects for the young Zambian striker who was signed at the beginning of the 2012 – 2013 season.

The UK Daily Mirror reports that Adkins is making an attempt to lure Gary Hooper to Southampton from Celtic as he looks for a class striker to play alongside Rickie Lambert in the Saints attack. This is despite having Billy Sharp at Nottingham Forest and Lee Barnard at Bournemouth on loan.

Mayuka who made 7 appearances in the first line-up for Young Boys this season before moving to England has only made 6 substitute appearances for the Saints with less than 2 hours of game time despite being an ever present fixture on the bench.

The 2012 African Cup of Nations Golden boot winner’s situation at his club will further be compounded with him leaving the club to join up with his international colleagues in January for the South Africa 2013 AFCON tournament, which will keep him away from club duty for not less than 3 weeks.

Southampton last weekend moved out of the relegation following a run of good results which has seen them only lose once to Liverpool in the last 5 games. They beat fellow strugglers Reading by a a goal to nil.

Mayuka is less likely to make it for the premier leaue.Thez nt much quality in him and the coach has already seen dat.

I will convince Adkins during AFCON next month in South Africa.Just waite and see.As for now, there is nothing I can do.I will keep warming the bench.after all I’m not doing it deliberately.I usually try my best but to no avail.I’m sure you saw my efforts during the Mandela cup against South Africa.Anyway, not all days are sundays.I ve just lost form, but it is temporal. After all I’m still young.I’m surprised that even my colleague Katongo Chris is finished.I hope Jacob,Sakuwaha,Mbesuma and Singuluma will replace us and do a good job.I think Evans Kangwa is not yet good enough because he lost form like me.

Emma do not convince yourself that you are finished, you are not . It is just time . Keep on working hard and being humble. God forbid . Do not even think about that. Finished no. Just re-look at yourself reflect upon your life maybe there is something you are not doing right. Look at your life style. Look at Mbesuma, we had written him off but there he is scoring @ Pirates and he came out in the open to say he has changed his life stay no wonder the form. Come on Emma do not feel defeated or under pressure you will make it right therE @ SOTON.
please just be focussed,do right things God will provide the way.
YOU ARE TOO YOUNG TO FEEL THAT WAY YOU HAVE ALL THE ENERGIES . USE THEM AND YOUR MIND TOO. SOLDIER ON.

Remain POSITIVE.It is not over until GOD says it’s over. You are still young and blessed with talent. No one will take that away from you.Remain focused no matter what.Let not your current situation dictate your direction.Trust GOD, forget the rest.

I will still consider the young guy.He has a future. It is difficult to be consistent-but the guy is good.He will be in my starting lineup. After all he is the only one who scored against Korea during that friendly.I will use him in all games. The coach at Southampton is not giving him enough time to play at that level.

Nothing is impossible Emma. You are still a good young player and God’s time is the best. Nobody can stand in your way if GOD says “SO BE IT”. Zambia were criticised and rated as under dogs at AFCON 2012,but you are the same boys who shamed every critic and proved to rise above all. Arise in JESUS’ name and make us proud once again. Mayuka, the sky is the limit for you as a young man who has invested your talent in soccer. But remember to put your God first in all you do and it shall be well with always

The guy is still good.If he was given 90min in at least 3 games, the coach was going to be happy. It’s step by step.Being on the bench at that level means that a player is considered.5 years is a long way to go.He is being reserved for the future. No need for alarm. The media please,be careful not to mislead people.

Hei guyz lets watchout, no need discourage the you man. He is stil talanted, young and energetic. Is he the only player EPL who is not scoring? come on guyz, its normal to be out of form in football. Look at Baloteli, Torres, Dempsy to mention but a few, how many times have they scored this season despite them being regular members of their respective teams this season? My advice to u young man is that do not loos forcus, work hard and good times are coming ahead of u either at yo club or other clubs that will see the potential in u. Am behind till the end of yo career.

You Zambians are very fickle. You are already seeing doom when noone has said Mayuka is for sale! Is it your lack of exposure? Even if he were to be put on sale the guy will easily get another European club. I ve watched him play right here in the UK
