I bring you love and fraternal greetings from the heartland of the Copperbelt!
Madam President, ever since PF assumed office, we’ve longed for your leadership and judicious voice on a number of burning issues afflicting our beloved nation. And when you accompanied President Sata to Brazil, some of us were deeply troubled and concluded that the country has finally been “robbed” of one of the few illustrious daughters of the soil that could stand up and boldly speak out for the majority of poor citizens.
May I remind you that while some of the so called politicians were cowering in fear or cunningly supporting the botched 3rd term campaign debate in favour of Frederick J. Chiluba in 2001, you wasted no time in joining forces with other progressive citizens to oppose the vile attempt to defile and rape our republican constitution!
The press statement that you’ve just issued regarding MMD MPs who can be said to be eating with both hands is relief to most of us; it could not have come at a better time like this one. In the said statement you observe that and I quote, “These aimless MMD MPs should go to UTH orthopaedic department where they will be greeted with accident victims who have been on operation waiting list for the past one year and do not know when the operation will be undertaken as the department has no surgical provisions such as needles, switchers, sculptors and other life serving surgical provisions to carry out life serving operations.”
Indeed what some of these MMD MPs and councillors are doing or contemplating to do is not only grossly immoral but day light robbery of our meagre resources! Unconfirmed media reports suggest that at least K3 billion is expended on each parliamentary by election; now, imagine how many lives could be spared or uplifted if such colossal sums of money were channelled toward such vital sectors as health and education as opposed to the unnecessary by-elections.
There comes a time in life when people MUST stand up and say enough is enough! Madam Nawakwi, enough is enough; we can’t allow selfish politicians such as MPs to be carelessly helping deplete our treasury by shamelessly switching political parties like prostitutes!
I am earnestly appealing to you to immediately start mobilising your party and indeed other likeminded citizens to stop this repulsive rot! The least that you can do is not to necessarily endorse such upcoming parliamentary by-elections by participating in them, but simply going to into constituencies where these elections are being held to explain to the electorate the pathetic situation in our hospitals, and how funds be wasted on by-elections could best be allocated to health or agricultural sectors.
And once you’re departed from this cruel world Madam; rest assured that people shall live to remember that in this country, there lived a Nawakwi that surely loved her country.
Thank you,
By a disgusted citizen!

You have spoken on behalf of the Zambians, politics is not only about belonging with the ruling party but opposition MPs are there to provide the checks and balances; so the unfortunate scenario of all the MMD MPs wanting to cross to the ruling party should not be welcomed as they are just there to worst the limited available resources through bye elections to enhance their ego.

it is a time for Zambians to think deeply and not to be fooled by these selfish politicians, who look very humble when begging for votes from us as if they carry our interests at heart yet they just want to sack our natural resources.defectors should never be given any chance in this country.

Also eating with both hands like “policitians”.
NGO’s are also supposed to educate people on such bad politicians on how finanical resources are wasted, and how to avoid such cases of swinging from one party to another.
NGO’s where are you?

The Lady has a point which fools cant see beyond, running up and down like headless chickens, atase, idiots, your are wasting our much needed tax payers money fools, these are men who cant make decisions, following abantu mumisula, if u see a man who changes women, know that he does not support them any of them. A man who spends money on his wife would not want to leave her and waste money on otherpeople, so the politicians, who cant come up with their own ideas, bamuselela kwa kaba. they will do the same in PF

To all of you who have written in support of Edith Nawakwi l say thank you. Even if they say money for by elections is budged for, it is not in this manner of my political party l have loved all along. Yes we can use some of these monies to health sector and agriculture. It is different issue when it is the courts who have made a judgement.Pf why all these mistecks. We are going to face the real challenge in 2016 though we think all is well. The opposition will regroup and with our selfish attitude to our own people who voted us in to power where some of you MP’s and Ministers have stopped answering phone calls from your own members. some of you members have ripped K1.4bn as commission for the tender of Ndola Dual carrigeway. We are aware of this. We know who you are and it’s time we shall deal with you together with the contractor. My friends please help this nation from these thugs.

FOR FM
Its not supporting blindly or looking at personality even when things are wrong.Respect for our leaders for God’s children shall be upheld. Its not everything one does that may be all right or wrong. But those who are honest and know that Frank Bwalya or some vocal organisation spoke out some day, expect their voices against injustices even today. No one has been discredited but shall we see taxpayers money going for by-elections.If they are the voice of voiceless even now we need them and enjoy their participation.Lets not tell others to think lest their thinking is above a cadre.

Thank you for your timely encouragement to Edith, I applaud you, for blowing this whistle at the right time, while it had been bogging my thoughts and mind, that I had not heard from Edith for a while, you timely got the black pen to the white paper. I had been missing Nawakwi on the scene, though I am very alive to the fact she had travelled with His Excellency the President, to share some ideas, anyone who understand and knows Nawakwi, knows that Nawakwi is her own person, and stands firm on her principals, which no one can compromise, and in my view, I felt and realized that Pres. Sata was wise and mature to choose to invite Nawakwi, on that trip, because no one has the monopoly of knowledge and wisdom;I realized that the old man is alert, sensible and smart to appreciate and to know that, even though there is only one winner at any particular time, some leaders, have the potential and their input and advice would go a long way in his resuming his duties at President of this country.
I pray Mama Edith wont relent in her courage and very unique understanding of issues and timely advice when need arises to try to stir this country to greater heights. Someday Mama, God will reward your efforts for the benefit of this country deprived, of literate, selfless leadership.
May God continue to guide you.
One of your great Admirers.

There is this foolish thinking in Zambia that development can only come to a constituency if the MP belongs to a ruling party. As a result MPs from opposition parties end up defecting to the ruling party like monkeys running to a tree with ripe fruits. Zambia has some very useless, hopeless and unprincipled MPs. Mr Sata refers to such people as “sebana wikute” (do not mind the humiliation for the sake of your tummy).

Who told you democracy is cheap. If you fear bye-elections through defections, simply revert to one part state politics. You cannot like rain and hate mud. In Nyanja they say; “Walira mvura, walila matope”. If you love democracy, those are what it costs. Grow up stop mileading yourselves. Stopping people to switch parties is interfering with their democratic rights.

Well said Madam Nawakwi. I got worried when you started exchanging word with HH. This was like tearing the opposition apart. I would suggest that you take trouble to go to these constituencies with pictures of the state of our hospitals and how these defectors or defeacators are contributing to lack of drugs in our hospitals.

DEMOCRACY DOES NOT DICTATE THAT ONE MUST STICK TO A PARTY HE NO LONGER LIKES ESPECIALLY WHEN THAT PARTY BEATS AND EXPELS OTHERS IN THE NAME OF DEMOCRACY. DEMOCRACY IS THE RIGHT TO CHOOSE WITHOUT FEAR OF INTIMIDATION. NEVERS HAS BROUGHT MORE HARM TO MMD THAN GOOD. HIS FAILED LEADERSHIP AND DICTATORIAL TENDENCIES ARE MAKING OTHER MEMBERS OF HIS PARTY TO RESIGN. WILLIAM BANDA WENT TO UPND, NAMULAMBE HAS GONE TO PF. THAT IS WITHIN THEIR DEMOCTARIC RIGHT. DEMOCRACY IS GOOD BUT CARRIES A HIGH PRICE TAG.

THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE WAY WE PRACTICE OUR POLITICS. FROM THE VERY ONSET, POLITICAL PARTIES NEED TO FIELD CANDIDATES THAT ARE GENUINE AND PASSIONATE ABOUT THE POLITICAL PARTIES TO WHICH THEY BELONG. OTHERWISE THIS TREND WILL CONTINUE. INFACT MOST, IF NOT ALL THE LEADERS OF THE POLITICAL PARTIES THAT WE HAVE IN ZAMBIA CAME(RAN AWAY) FROM SOME OTHER POLITICAL PARIESY. SO WE ARE JUST REAPING WHAT WE HAVE BEEN SOWING FOR A LONG TIME. OF COURSE IT IS NOT TOO LATE. EDITH NAWAKWI ALSO CAME FROM ANOTHER PARTY. SHE CAN STILL GO BACK NOW.

I think James has a point. When The President asked her to accompany him to Brazil she did not think of the extra cost to government and taxpayers money. Now that Masumba has been appointed as Minister, all of a sudden the by – election in mufumbwe is a waste of tax payers money? The truth of the matter is when President Sata invited her for the trip to Brazil she raised hopes of being appointed into government as an opposition leader which has not happened. Please President Sata appoint this woman to a post in government, you will see how quickly she will shut her mouth. Let her not exclude her self, they are all job seekers. Finally President Sata screen this thieves coming from the defunct Movement for Mass Destcruction(MMD) before they destroy your working PF Government.

One important thing is that recycled politicians should not be tolerated on the Zambian politicle arena. Pipo, you should check one thing, most of the people you are seeing in government have been moving from one political party to the next. They are very rhetoric, good orators and always luring people to support them. They even hate anything new in the political circles.
It is time Zambians woke up and spoke one voice to make their political leaders accountable. We voted for change because it was vivid that most of the things were being abused and our country was really ‘sinking’ at the hands of the few selfish individuals.Tax payers’ money was outused like only God knows what.
Having seen that the PF government is not performing to our expectations, we need to make them accountable to us by standing up like Mama Nawakwi.
The PF Government should be fully aware that the foundation for the 2016 General Elections is being layed. So, it is time to serve Zambians. Vagabond polititians should just watch out. We need people who have a heart for this nation, not destroyers who come in the name of serving the nation.
Am just happy that this generation is trying to make the government accountable. When I was young, no one was allowed to even use any platform to say anything anti-government. Keep it up Zambians. We are at least enjoying a bit of this ‘democracy.’
