Dear Editor,
Allow me to write to the President Mr Michael Sata. I live in Chambishi township situation 26 km away from Kitwe & 24 km from Chingola.
Chambishi as a township follows under Kalulushi District which is about 50 km away.
This simply means that we have to travel to Kalulushi each time we want something concerning municipality.
All the Revenue collected in Chambishi goes to Kalulushi.
This is why our area has remained undeveloped despite being on the world map as a producer of cobalt & copper. Can the president please do something about our area please.
We can’t depend on these selfish people from anymore. What is more is ,we want an MP to come from our area.
Thanks in advance.

Ba mulambya ,Chambishi is just a township & too small to be a district on its own as @ now let us concentrate on bigger districts without equal distribution in all areas like lufwanyama where all developmental projects are just at the boma leaving other areas like mukumbo with nothing to boast about, not even a gravel road goes there.

BaMulambya, have you ever heard of a Multi-Facility-Economic-Development-Zone? have you read about the Tax Free Trade Zone? All these are happening in Chambishi so as to attract investiment & Trade. Thereafter we can think of districtising that kombon of 1230 inhabitants.i

If your arguement is distance and Cu and Co, why then do we not take you as Kt or CN? A township for a district…!!! Wake up Home of MMD, now you have a fuel station at least.

It is important that in deciding which area should be turned into a district demographic factors are taken seriously. I therefore agree with Ba Medza that Chambishi is too small to be upgraded into a district. Here are the facts: Chambishi only has a population of 24,062; Chimwemwe Constituency in Kitwe which borders Chambishi has a population of 117,341, that is, nearly five times the size of Chambishi. But Chimwemwe township is not agitating for district status. In fact, a ward in Chimwemwe Constituency like Kawama with a population of 37,966 is larger than Chambishi. Should Kawama also become a district? If the argument is based on copper and cobalt deposits, then Nkana Constituency (Population:83,067), with the new developments by Mopani at its Mindolo Mine, should also be turned into a district.

Forgive Mulambya for he doesnt know what he is talking about. There are 189km from chinsali to mpika district, a shiwangandu district was created in btwn just last month. Now you are talking about 26kmn 24km, 50km etc. There are more areas that really need urgent attention and not chambishi town.

The population of chinese to zambians in chambishi is 2 to 1. If chambishi becomes a district, expect a choncholi mayor or MP in the next 2 years.

Humphrey for your own info. This creation of new districts is one way of taking development to those ares as new schools, roads, hospital & other facilities which a district must have. Look @ chambishi with a few of you about 24000 people it has better roads, schools, clinics not forgeting the multi facility economic zone which has created employment to most of you guys. On the other hand Shangombo with more than 70000 in population enclosed between two major rivers zambezi & cuando has impassable roads to even reach their provincial capital_mongu & only relies on the kalongola ferry. No major economical activities apart from farming & fishing. Let me know if you need more!!!

What kind of development does he want because alot of towns have started testing the development now in the PF caring government, the previous government was just a batch of people that needed to put the money in their pockets, holing the Cross to this hand while the other hand is holding the sword.

OPEN LETTER TO PT MC.SATA
Your Excellency, how does it feel to work diligently for a Government which does not consider the plight of its faithful citizenry? Ihave asked this because it is now 14 years since the Department of Technical Education and Vocational Training was abolished in December 1999 and people retrenhed. People were robbed of their due terminal benefts and the case went to court during the reign of our beloved late President Mwanawasa. The Court upheld the people’s concern and ruled in their favour. Surprisingly, since then, we have been waiting for our money which does not seem to be coming soon. Since you came into Statehouse, your Excllency, we have seen retired or retrenched workers from other departments and parastatals being paid off their dues, but not those from DTEVT. Does it mean our case is still in court? And how long should we go on waiting for the right decision and action to be made and taken? Mr President, you are our last station in our journey to a better life in our last days on this earth.

mulambya is right. this is part of growth and decentralisation. people of chambeshi have got a right to ask for the district status. it is like us human beings when a person grow older he should be able to leave his parents place and start to live on his own. keep it up the people of chambeshi.

No talks about the plight of Mufulira Wanderers PLC workers. The business dead a nature death and no one has bothered to talk about the matter. Most of the former workers are either suffering peacefully or have passed on without getting their respective benefits.Imagine not even a meeting was called upon by the directors of the venture to explain the fate of the business venture.
In this regard, am appealing to the area MP Hon.Yamfwa Mukanga to address the matter before cabinet or the relevant authority so that we can get our hard earned benefits.I was last employee who wittnessed a very embarassing incidence when the bailiff came to Shinde Stadium (at wanderers offices) to grab company assets in full view of on lookers.Even the main bar was not spared where i was operating from. Not a single senior was present when the incidence happened. All of them decided to hide their faces. We never received any written document to inform us that the company has been declared bankrupt or liquidated. To date no one has bothered to address the matter. What a shame.Abash to all those who contributed to the down fall of the once Mighty Mufulira Wanderers FC and it’s business venture.I salute mr Mike Milupi who i have high respect, because during his reign as Managing Director of the venture, all the workers used to get their wages and salaries. No had he left the place than the problems started until the bailiff came and sweept the place clean.

Mr. Mulambya you’re very right. I honestly do not know whether Chambishibis big enough to be a district on its own, but how would it grow if we denied it the opportunity to do so? What is undoubtedly clear is that it can’t be managed from Kalulushi, which is also tiny & struggling to grow itself into a real modern day town whereas there’s Chingola & Kitwe closeby. No one will relocate to Kalulushi if it’s not allowed to develop its own growth plan and identity. Come to think of it, this town is geographically better positioned than …. Am just thinking

Ba Medza, thanks a lot my brother (sister??)for your quick advice. However, I’m not pleased by your comment that this issue is petty to be addressed to the President. What may seem petty to some people, may not be so to those it may concern. How I wished you had only ended at advising about the channel as you did instead of trivialising the issue. I do not mean to begin exchanging words with you my brother, and I’m sure you will be of help again in the coming future.
