FORMER President Rupiah Banda has been summoned by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) for interviews in connection with alleged corrupt and other criminal activities.
According to a letter of summon dated February 4, 2013 and signed by ACC director-general Rosewin Wandi, Mr Banda should avail himself before the government joint investigations team on Thursday at 09:00 hours at the Drug Enforcement Commission head office in Lusaka.
“The government joint investigations team has been carrying out investigations into allegations of corruption and other criminal activities in which you have been named.
“We are mindful that you currently enjoy legal immunity from prosecution on offences allegedly committed while you served as Republican President.
“However, it might serve your interests to avail yourself the opportunity to provide answers to the allegations made against you without losing your immunity,” Ms Wandi said.
She said should Mr Banda opt not to report for interviews on Thursday, the law enforcement agencies will pursue him.
“I further wish to advise that should you elect not to accept this invitation, which you are entitled to, the law enforcement agencies will have no option but to pursue other legal avenues.
“You are entitled to be accompanied by your lawyers,” Ms Wandi said.

The Government and their team so called “government joint investigations team” are just busy trying to derail us. Instead of looking at serious issues such as youth unemployment and inappropriate awarding of contracts(out-sourcing) to Indians/Chinese by big companies, there are just busy azz leaking RB and otherz.

THIS WILL GO NO WHERE. WE WILL LOSE A COLOSSAL SUM OF TAX PAYER’S MONEY IN THE NAME OF INVESTIGATIONS AND PROSECUTION AS WELL AS PERSECUTION.
WHEN WILL PERSECUTING OUR FORMER HEADS OF STATE END? ZAMBIA IS THE ONLY COUNTRY WHERE SUCH EVENTS HAPPEN.

Are we going to get back any of that money? Or are we saying we should lose more money out of our pockets? I wish the system was an efficient one but am afraid its not. Even when you find a thief in your yard you have to think twice how helpful it is to involve the law enforcing agents!! MA!

This culture of pursuing every former president in zambia over corruption cases truly paints a very negative picture about the character of leaders we put in power ourselves. For a change let RB take a rest. After all, this case will just die a natural death after spending too much time and resources.

Some of you don’t read or listen to inetrnational news, Zambia is not the only country where former heads of states are facing criminal charges. It’s a lesson to the seating Presidents that if they choose to break the law with impunity, their time of reconing will definately come, unless they go the Levy way. So if you aspire for public office, don’t think you will be untouchable for ever. Let him tell his side of the story, if his is innocent he will be vindicated by the law.

I am extremely disappointed that Wandi- the ACC Director- General, can sink so low as to initiate a process that is clearly unconstitutional. When this chap was fired, i thought she had an ounce of integrity in her but alas, she has sold her soul to SATANISM. My advise to Mr. Rupiah Banda is that please dont go to ACC until they lift your immunity if they have the numbers. The procedure requires that the former president immunity should be removed by parliament before he can even answer any questions. What is wrong with professionals in this country??????

Ladies and Gentlemen, please let us not have this attitude of supporting the wrong.Let him go and account for his deeds. We should not have this attitude of saying its ok who has not sinned or stolen.Remember that is a very bad precedence we are setting.Pipo should not be allowed to loot our resources and go scofree.Look at Henry Banda how rich the Idiot is,then someone say no let him persecution NO its not. They steal from the poor ZAMBIANS who die everyday bcoz of lack of medicines, clean water etc.Iam really very dissapointed with you all who are against this good cause.Infact nga namituka sana insele inshikulu, now GOD forgive me.Sit down all of you against this noble cause and reflect and retreat.Thank GOD bless you all.One Zambia One Nation goes our motto. No one hates RB but i HATE his conduct and it makes my heart to bleed that anyone would be against this genuine cause. There is FTJ what shall it profit a man who gains the whole world but later loses his soul.MHSRIEP.
