Nevers Against RB Probe

MMD president Nevers Mumba has described the summoning of former republican President Rupiah Banda by the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) as a breach of the constitution.
The Anti Corruption Commission has summoned Mr. Banda to appear before the Government Joint Investigations team on Thursday, over allegations of corruption and other criminal activities.

Dr. Mumba says if there is anything wrong the former head of state did while in office, constitutional provisions can be used to pursue him.

He states that as the situation stands, Mr. Banda still enjoys his immunity and that his summoning is an illegality that should be stopped.

Speaking at a media briefing in Lusaka this afternoon, Dr. Mumba says it is very clear that the directive is from President Michael Sata, as he had allegedly indicated in Justice Winter Kabimba’s case that the ACC should not summon anyone of high standing without his knowledge.

Dr. Mumba notes that the deliberate disregard for the law and the constitution continues to provide the necessary material for the impeachment of President Sata.

He further adds that it was immoral for government to have released the letter from the ACC to all state media even before Mr. Banda could be served with the letter.

Dr. Mumba notes that such a move only shows that the whole exercise is in bad faith.

And Dr. Mumba has advised ACC Director General Rosewin Wandi to use her professional background to resist political pressure.

He has further advised Ms. Wandi to refer to the constitution for guidance as she pursues the presidential directive to question Mr. Banda.

Investigations are necessary for justice to prevail. If the leaders are exempted from investigations, then forget about justice. All that is required is professionalism and integrity. The investigative teams must comprise respected members of the community with impeccable credentials. Transparency is critical for the justice system to operate efficiently. That is what the vast majority of private citizens are also saying.

Mumba should have been the last person to talk about constitution. What are you after? Your cheap politics will not save you from all your wrongs you had done on this earth. Worse more, you are even talking of impeachment. For what reason can you Mumba impeach the president? Day Dreamer Mumba.

This is the problem with mr Mumba. Rupiah bamda should be probed and it’s very unreasonable for mr Mumba to condemn that. We know that he mr Mumba is comfortable with our Canada money & so he should just keep quite & wait for his summons than keep on bucking. Let him not come out as if he understands the constitution. If he really did, he would have not abused his office in foreign services. SHAME ON YOU FALLEN PASTOR!!!!!!!!!

Why is it that ever time there is a case involving politicians being summoned either by police or ACC for question Never will quickly involve Mr Sata. What it is here man God is every one who was involved in criminal activities during Rb’s rule will be brought to book it doesnt matter whether that person is gay/massonist/pastor/general worker/miner/supplier/civil servant/soldier the list is endless. So man of God you preached about loving our enemies can you for once at least practice loving the man of action His Excellence Michael Chilufya Sata since you look at him as your enemy no. 1. May God give you grace to remember all those nice messages you preached about love and the like. Stay blessed.
