Gender and Child Minister Inonge Wina has described the 2012 Grade twelve examinations results as pathetic.
Ms. Wina says it is extremely unfortunate that females performed so poorly compared to their male counterparts.
Over 60 thousand out of the over 103 candidates that sat for the 2012 grade 12 examinations obtained full school certificates, of which 41 thousand are male and 19 thousand are females.
Speaking to QFM News, Ms. Wina states that the results are a real reflection of the development pace of the country.
She notes that if girls do not acquire sufficient education, it means that development in any country is held up.
Ms. Wina says there is great need as a country to understand the many factors that lead to girls not making it in their education.
She notes that poverty and early marriages are some factors that hinder girls from furthering their education.
The Gender minister has since observed the need for government, parents and other stakeholders to look into the causes of poor performance in order for the country to move forward, with both men and women contributing equally to its growth.

I conquer with her! The discipline in scholls is no longer there! Teachers are jsut busy with conditions of service yet their input can’t much what is required of them!
The Govt can do well to look at a teacher in the remote parts of the conutry & attend to their needs than these tiown teachers!

I understand what teachers go through.look for a relatively decent house, pay rent from borrowed money from Capital Punishment,do tuition etc. Time is lost trying to make ends meet. Pay them a reasonable housing allowance or build houses for them.

The new name now is ‘Kwasha Mukwenu’? But there is some sense in it. Why pay school fees for your neighbour’s child, when yours is languishing in the streets? It is just the bad governance system that is making people worry too much about nepotism. Independence for all territories and individual communities is key. Viva Barotseland!
