RB Must Be Put On Trial; Justice Is Priceless- Part one .

    rupiah  By Jeff Mbewe

“We are sending a warning to everyone that when you hold a public office which is entrusted on you by the people of Zambia, you should not abuse it at their expense. We hold these offices for Zambians not for us or our families.” Professor Nkandu Luo said during the lifting of Mr. Rupiah Banda’s immunity.

RB must be put on trial; Justice is priceless- Part one .

It appears a great majority of those vying for public office including several of those already in the public sector have an extremely big difficulty with accountability of their actions, decisions, policies and the use of funds. But this accountability is an indispensable requirement for any individual whether in private, public, church, and most importantly society.

State officials, public employees, and private actors must be held answerable for their policies, actions, and use of funds. Government agencies, both administrative and political, and firms must have horizontal or internal accountability mechanisms, and must also be accountable to their citizens and clients for their performance.

While this is so, why do some people have difficulties and problems over holding a former president accountable after they leave office? We know that everyone is bound to make inadvertent errors but, it is no reason for us to abuse the offices we hold for our people.

RB was cautioned on a number of times about his sons, family and his uncontrolled cruelty of the office he held not for himself or his family members but for the people of Zambia because it is these people of Zambia that entrusted RB with the responsibility to rule this country and not his family, friends and minions.

However, we noted the resistance by the opposition parties, MMD and UPND to have Rupiah Banda’s immunity lifted and the reasons given for their stance on this issue need to be given an attention as this is a basis from which we condemn them for their reckless conduct.

The Argument of the opposition on the lifting of RB’s Immunity was based on six reasons; The first one was that the same practice was done on late Chiluba’s issue but it yields nothing despite drawing a huge sum of expenses in the Investigations and court process.

Secondly the lifting of RB’s immunity was faced with objection by RB’s legal representatives who filed an injunction in court not to have the motion of lifting of RB’s immunity presented in Parliament by Justice minister Wynter Kabimba and as such, according to a certain bill of Zambia, matters cannot be debated on in parliament if they are before the court of law.

The third reason was that, lifting of Rupiah Banda’s immunity was considered to be politically motivated- to destabilize and destroy the opposition by the ruling PF so as to remain in government forever and also to destroy democracy seen that as a former MMD Party president, RB was very instrumental to the well being of the party – the MMD party members believe that with the help of RB who has now retired from active politics, they will be able to bounce back to power in 2016 general election.

Part 2 will be published soon.

It doesn’t matter how much tax pays money is spent bcoz to get justice for two main reasons
1.For him to have diverted govt funds to his personal A/c,that means one had no regards for the poor, the sick in hospital and overall development of the nation in the first place. How well then can these pipo now have sympathy for poor asking how much tax payers money will be spent in having justice?this is nosense and hypocrisy.
2.Imagine a suituation where every president knows that even after this tenure he can’t be prosecuted for corruption.Every president will be stealing and the whole aim will be not to serve the pipo but enrich themselves and family. In that case everybody will be wanting to be president.Actually it wud cost the country more bcoz they will all ne stealin taxpayers money.let’s stop this primitive thinking of “ubomba mwibala alya mwibala”..this can be recep for a broken society

Zambians are very ******, the person who should be stopped from milking the state is Sata not RB. The key is to nip abuse as it springs. Sata us busy abusing resources and he must be stopped now than later. He is weakening democracy so that he can get away with the current evils he is doing. RB’s is a sunk cost and it is clear that the lifting of immunity is not serving any purpose otherwise Sata would not be performing so badly as he is. RB may have gotten things wrong but he was and is a democrat not this ***** Sata

THIS IS COMMON SENSE. NOT PROSECUTING THE THIEVES WILL BE LAUGHING WHOLE THE WAY TO THEIR BANKS TO CASH IN ON THE LOOT. STEALING BY LEADERS MUST COME TO AN END AND TRYING THEM IN THE COURTS OF LAW IS THE BEST WAY TO END THIS RB THING. ESPECIALLY, IF THEY ARE FOUND GUILTY IT WOULD BE AN AUTOMATIC DETERRENCE. LET RB PROVE HIMSELF IN THE COURTS OF LAW. THIS IS THE BEST THING THAT CAN HAPPEN TO ZAMBIA TO EVEN SET STANDARDS FOR OTHER AFRICAN COUNTRIES. AFRICAN LEADERS ARE CONDEMNED FOR STEALING, NOW THAT THE BENEFICIARY IS A WHITE ARMSTADAM RB’S STEALING HAS BECOME COOL?

DORA AND MMD MPS WERE AGAINST THE REMOVAL OF RB’S IMMUNITY BECOS:
    1.ALL WERE BENEFICIARIES.
2.RB WILL DISCLOSE HOW THEY SHARED THE LOOT.
3.PRESECUTING DORA AND MMD MPS COULD HAVE BEEN VERY DIFFICULT.
4.ALL ARE IN TROUBLE NOW THAT RB HAS NO IMMUNITY.
5.SECURING CONVICTIONS AGAINST THESSE LOOTERS IS NOW PREDICTABLE .

WHO EVER WANTS TO OPPOSE THE LIFTING OF RB IMUNITY IS A CROOK AND SHOULD NOT BE TRUSTED BY ANY WELL MEANING ZAMBIAN. RB HAS BEEN SAYING THAT HE IS INNOCENT, LET HIM JUSTIFY HIS CLAIMS, PERIOD OR ELSE WE WILL ALWAYS ASSUME THAT HE STOLE FROM THE POOR ZAMBIANS. WE SIMPLY WANT HIM TO JUSTIFY HIS SUDDEN RICHES, NO ONE WANTS TO PANISH HIM IF HE DID NOT STEAL, PEOPLE SHOULD NOT BLAME THE PF GOVT FOR THIS, IT IS OUR MONEY AT STEAK. LET RB CONVINCE THE MASSES THAT HE IS INOCENT. YOU CAN EVEN SEE THE CALIBRE OF PEOPLE WHO WANT TO SYMPATHISE WITH HIM,THE LIKES OF SILIYA, NEVERS MUMBA, SAKWIBA, SHIKAPWASHA, ALL WITH SOILED BLOODY HANDS.
