Long-serving Chipolopolo defender Joseph Musonda has made a late return to the Chipolopolo set up after being sidelined on account of suspension for accumulating two consecutive yellow cards at the Africa Cup of Nations in January.

Musonda, who plays for Golden Arrows in South Africa, was spotted in full training at the Soweto Nike Stadium this morning. The session was Zambia’s final set in Johannesburg before the team leaves for Lesotho for a 2014 Brazil World Cup qualifier on Sunday.

Officials in the Zambian camp say Musonda has returned after CAF notified Zambia that the player was eligible for Lesotho because the yellow cards in different matches did not rule him out unless where it was a straight red card.

Therefore, Musonda will make the bus trip to Maseru, Lesotho this afternoon where the team is expected to arrive early evening. He was not named in coach Herve Renard’s initial 19 and later final 23 man team.

Currently, Renard is taking his lads through the paces in Soweto before they head back to Milpark Hotel for lunch after which they will connect to Lesotho. The team has had 10 training sessions including a practice match against Africa Sport Academy which ended 1-all during the six-day Johannesburg training camp.

Renald must discard that white shirt and stop superstition. He must leave it to Trade Kings to advertise Boom, a weak detergent. As coach, he must be at the forefront to discourage winning by “lucky white shirts” or anything like it.
