As the FAZ Super Division league enters Week Four this weekend, bolazambia brings you dramatic scene of a Week Three clash involving police sponsored outfit Nkwazi and Power Dynamos whose final outcome was a 2-all draw. Nkwazi came from behind to hold Power.

Freelance photojournalist Jean Mandela captured the moment when a long-serving Power ‘die-hard’ fan Bennie Meleki was manhandled by an overzealous plain clothed policeman for performing his traditional half-time rituals.

It’s customary for Meleki to invade any pitch that hosts Power fixtures but at Edwin Imboela Stadium, which is in the heart of Sikanze Police Camp in Lusaka, the officers had no time for such drama.

ROUND ONE: Police officer confronts Meleki and they engage.

ROUND TWO: Meleki is floored to the ground in what was an uphill battle for him.

Meleki has been running round football pitches for decades, and he has never harmed anybody. most people view what he does as a comedy and just laugh it off. These are some things that add fun to Zambian football. So indeed this was an overzealous policeman who manhandled him, the idiotic policeman was not even on duty.

Yeah I agree with you CC, what sin did Meleki commit just being on the playing field making fun of himself? Its out of such behavior of the cops man which bring confusions in the football grounds.

Atase, these police have failed to capture the Mailoni brothers who are killing innocent Zambians and the armed robbers who are busy taking away people’s hard earned property and raping women. they have now resorted to harassing harmless soccer fans. Shame!!!!!!
