Singuluma to Miss Pirates, TP Mazembe Clash

Injury has ruled out Zambian striker Given Singuluma of the CAF Champions League round of 16 first leg clash involving his Lubumbashi side TP Mazembe and South Africa’s Orlando Pirates in an epic clash.

TP Mazembe are setting up a training camp in Ndola where they will prepare for the Pirates clash billed for Soweto on Saturday.

According to the club website, Singuluma is one of the two TP Mazembe players that will not travel to South Africa due to injury.

TP Mazembe set up their Zambia training camp in Ndola since Sunday until later this week when they travel to Johannesburg for the fixture.

Pirates, who eliminated Zambian champions Zanaco 3-1 on aggregate, will make a trip to Lubumbashi for the return leg on May 4 or 5 to determine which determine one of the two sides making the group stage.

The Pirates, Mazembe match will pitch Chipolopolo’s influential players – Rainford Kalaba and Collins Mbesuma – at odds in what is anticipated to be a fierce battle of regional giants.

Before departure for Ndola, Mazembe chairman Moïse Katumbi saw off the team with encouragement for the team to make it to the group stage where they should contest their passage to their fifth continental title.

Singuluma is of the players that have disappointed me so far. After he shined in the inagural CHAN championships,I expected him to improve but he has been dissapointing on all the occasions he was called for seniour national team duties.
