Bandits Attack Mazhandu Family Bus With Stones

mazhanduStone wielding
bandits last evening
attacked a Kitwe bound Mazhandu family bus
services coach smashing
windscreens and causing panic among passengers.

The attack occurred at approximately 21:30 hours yesterday 500 metres
away from the Kapiri Mposhi weigh bridge turnoff and 5 minutes away
from the town centre.

The driver of the Mazhandu bus registration ABM
 9644 nearly lost
control due to the stone bullet parade.

The Mazhandu bus was caught up in the web after the driver attempted
to thwart the theft of waterproof tents on a slow moving truck by
hooting and flashing his lights which alerted the bandits.

The state of security on Zambian night roads is still questionable
with the forthcoming UNWTO conference.
No injuries were recorded from the incident and police in the district
have launched investigations into the matter.
Night time Stone bandit attacks have become
predominant in the transit town with numerous property and lives being
lost through the development.

One of the affected passengers Evans Singoyi
called for
seriousness among police officers in the area.
Mr Singoyi said the stone throwing bandits have
been predominant in
the area for a long time and hence advised police to beef up their
patrols and stop being dormant.
The attack occurred approximately 200 metres from
a police checkpoint.

Iyo kwena ni pa zed. A bus of this size could carry about 70 passengers it is likely that the criminals where much less in number. So how can a smaller number of people attack with stones. Docile! Docile! Docile!

Quite alright the thieves were possibly outnumbered, but imagine the people of different ages in the bus including babies and utukote without stones in the bus, it makes them vulnerable…

If you try this in other places like DRC, even utukote will rise against you. The only thing they fear is a firearm. The avoidance of confrontation is what makes us docile.

Iwe chikala you are the one who needs common sense. Those emotions and fear of unknown people you are describing is the cowardice I am referring to. I have thwarted an attack before, so I know what I am talking about. You should also note that people who usually attack at night are cowards like you.

The stretch from where the Great North Road joins the Ndola-Lusaka road to KapiriMposhi proper should be patrolled by police at night. I witnessed a group of criminals jumping from the bush and running after the Mpulungu-Lusaka Juldan Bus on which I was a passenger on 25-26th March,2023 around midnight. The criminals failed in their bid to attack the fast-moving bus.

At one time thieves stole a cops from a van just at the same point where the bus was stoned. The police were telling the story themselves. One wonders why this Kapiri issue has not been buried all this time. Even some ministers have been robbed before at this point. People, careful with the hump near Continental and the rail line at KGP. especially those of you driving Hiluxes and Hardbodies with tents behind. Never put your belongs at the back if you are travelling in the night.
