How Miniskirts Torment Pastors In Church (Part 2)

indescent dressingIf you missed part 1, begin from here

“However, I cannot prescribe what women should wear but whatever it is that they want should exemplify dignity. We are not supposed to judge a church by its people.

“If you read 1 Timothy 2 vs 9 and 1 Peter 3 vs 3 you will see how women should dress. They should respect their bodies since it is said the bodies are the temples of Holy Spirit,” Dr Shana said.

Pastor Godwin Chitsinde of Spoken Word Ministries said it was not right for people to dress skimpily.

“I believe people should dress in modest apparels and I don’t think a mini-skirt is modest. Suppose anybody visits our church seeking help and they are dressed skimpily they will be the odd ones out.

“We don’t accept that because every occasion has its own dress code this is why even in some hotels they are strict on dress. There is a reason why some churches have uniforms which they wear on different occasions.

“But maybe you need to interrogate further to see why some women are now wearing mini-skirts.

“You will be amazed to see that it is the wives of pastors who are at the forefront. The question is if the pastors’ wives wear mini-skirts what do you expect from the whole congregation when they are supposed to dress modestly and respectfully?” Pastor Chitsinde said.

Pastor Ruth of Christ Embassy said indecent dressing was not accepted in church.

“The word of God encourages people to dress decently. It’s very wrong for women to come dressed in mini-skirts because that would distract other people from worshiping.

“At our church we have lessons on how to dress and seat in public. However, since our main thrust is to win souls we obviously don’t preach against anyone’s dressing.

“Once they accept Jesus Christ as their saviour then they start dressing in a Christ-like manner. We are aware that people come to church for different things some to look for men or women others to get money but at the end of the day we want people to be saved and hopefully they transform through the Holy Spirit,” she said.

Bishop Trevor E. C. Manhanga aka “Muranda waMwari” said the form of dressing by women in the church today was a cause for concern.

“Indecency has now become the order of the day in the name of fashion. While I have no problem with women dressing fashionably there are certain norms that need to be observed.

“The word of God advocates for modesty and that is what women should aim for in the way they dress. Over-exposure of the breasts and thighs of women coupled with very tight or close-fitting attire is not something that women should wear to church.

“While I do not absolve men from their responsibility to maintain clear thoughts women must understand that men are primarily turned on sexually by what they see and in that regard the church should not be a place where men have to fight with wandering thoughts,” Bishop Manhanga said.

However, Bishop Nolbert Kunonga was of a different opinion saying church uniforms were of no theological significance.

“It is not an important dimension and it is of no theological significance. However, those who wear uniforms at church do so because they want to differentiate themselves from other denominations or because they want to look the same.

“The dress code does not impact on people’s salvation but rather just there to show that  one belongs to this or that church,” he said.

Bishop Kunonga said church uniforms from the Anglicans or Catholics were common in Africa but it was not the case in the countries where the denominations originated from.

That is the reason why the church must work hard. The doctor does not look for healthy people. You people are called men or women of God and your job is not to come to me who is already saved but to save the souls of ‘these’ people. The ‘wrong’ dress separates them from our flock.Convert them then they will understand what decent dress means.

How I wish you could limit your contribution to the mode of dressing of those women, instead of addressing harmonics such as whether the picture was taken in church or a bar?

Dressing issue must be solved by the Deacons and Ushers, they must restrain and counsel those dress improperly in the church. Why allow amatanta ayakashika ukumonekela? Our feelings are through seeing and its delicate than our female folk.

Lets not go far from the point the writer is trying to bring out, indecent dressing in places of worship. Off course the women shown are definitely in a church. However, there are certain people whose dressing and even gestures are improper at church services. One time I was asked to make an announcement and could not believe some gestures I was receiving from some young ladies, off course within a minute I made sure my eyes were only going from one persons forehead to another as one out of five ladies indecently exposed what was almost disturbing my attention. Its worthy bringing the dress code preaching in church again and again as a person with no knowledge about it may come a sunday after such a message.

The problem is not in the dressing but in the minds of those who look at the dressing. Humans have agreeed to cover the private parts because of the high level of dignity attached to such parts. The rest of the parts are just common instruments for the human framework to perform various survival functions. Legs are just tools for walking. All animals have legs and they are not covered. The private parts of any animal is in a sense blocked from ordinary view but not the legs. Pastors should just look at the legs as tools for locomotion and perhaps to stand upright as people pra
ise the Lord and continue with their pulpit business.

Proverbs 23:27-28 says, “A prostitute is a deep pit; an adulterous woman is treacherous. She hides and waits like a robber, looking for another victim who will be unfaithful to his wife.”

God forbids involvement with prostitutes. “For the lips of an immoral woman drip honey, And her mouth is smoother than oil; But in the end she is bitter as wormwood, Sharp as a two-edged sword. Her feet go down to death, Her steps lay hold of hell” (Proverbs 5:3-5).

Prostitution not only destroys marriages, families, and lives, but it destroys the spirit and soul in a way that leads to physical and spiritual death. God’s desire is that we stay pure and use our bodies as tools for His use and glory (Romans 6:13). First Corinthians 6:13 says, “…But our bodies were not made for sexual immorality. They were made for the Lord, and the Lord cares about our bodies.”

Although prostitution is sinful, prostitutes are not beyond God’s scope of forgiveness. The Bible records His use of a prostitute named Rahab to further the fulfillment of His plan. As a result of her obedience, she and her family were rewarded and blessed (Joshua 2:1; 6:17-25). In the New Testament, a woman who had been known for being a sexual sinner—before Jesus forgave and cleansed her from sin—found an opportunity to serve Jesus while He was visiting in the home of a Pharisee.

The woman, recognizing Christ for who He is, brought a bottle of expensive perfume to Him. In regret and repentance, the woman wept and poured perfume on His feet, wiping it with her hair. When the Pharisees criticized Jesus for accepting this act of love from the “immoral” woman, He admonished them and accepted the woman’s worship. Because of her faith, Christ had forgiven all her sins and she was received into His kingdom (Luke 7:36-50).

When speaking to those who refused to believe the truth about Him, Jesus Christ said, “I assure you, corrupt tax collectors and prostitutes will get into the Kingdom of God before you do. For John the Baptist came and showed you the way to life, and you didn’t believe him, while tax collectors and prostitutes did. And even when you saw this happening, you refused to turn from your sins and believe him” (Matthew 21:31-32).

Just like anyone else, prostitutes have the opportunity to receive salvation and eternal life from God, to be cleansed of all their unrighteousness and be given a brand new life! All they must do is turn away from their sinful lifestyle and turn to the living God, whose grace and mercy are boundless. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” (2 Corinthians 5:17).

I have seen God changing these people Male or female prostitutes and their are saving and worshiping God, I too was a prostitute but CHRIST JESUS, has forgiven me, purified and HE is me. if you are strugging with the same problems, please ask God to forgive you and do what Romans 10:9-10 says.

Your choice leads you to your destination. I would rather “Take Sides With Jesus.” Whatever comment above, reveals whose agent we are representing. Eccles:12vs13-14. Amen!
