Government to Start Issuing Loans To Bus Drivers

the government has facilitated a bus loan scheme which will enable over 1,300 public and private service drivers to become proprietors.

The first beneficiary is Ms Sara Njovu, a widowed taxi driver who has supported her family using income from the male-dominated business.
Ms Njovu received her prized asset from President Sata at State House at a ceremony to introduce the loan scheme that is being driven by the Ministry of Transport, Communications, Works and Supply, in conjunction with the Development Bank of Zambia (DBZ) and Higer Bus Company.

Handing over two of the buses to two of the beneficiaries, President Sata promised to empower all Zambians, regardless of their political affiliation.

Mr Sata said he is ready to assist Zambians who are organised and ready for empowerment.
“I have no problem assisting MMD, UPND members as long as they are organised. If PF members are not organised, we will continue to help those who are organised,” Mr Sata said.

DBZ and Higer Bus Company Limited of China have entered into an agreement which will enable drivers to acquire a 26-seater Higer bus at US$45,000 on two percent interest, repayable in five years.
Deputy Minister of Transport, Communications, Works and Supply Panji Kaunda said Government facilitated the bus loan scheme when a group of drivers approached the ministry.

Nga temwakwibila, but drivers got jobs already, why not creating jobs to those in the streets, more good opportunties for those already employment, just how many drivers are on the list? does this include truct drivers to own their own trucks and buses, then expand intercity, elyo lwanya nomba, those who work in shops to have their own loaned shops, those who work in shoprite to have their own shoprities, those who work in hotels, to have their own hotels, those who fish for other people to have their own fishing nets, those who cook for the President to have their own pots, or sory environment for cooking food. salaula sellers, selling for other people to have their own, those who are maids, to have their own maids, those who are teching for other people’s schools, to have loans for their own shcools, interesting indeed, this President is for the people, Ba Sata I think I vote for you again, so we will entually have no one working for someone, bravo Mr. President, your thoughts are very generous, and powerfool, or sorry powerfull. This is the kind of president we were looking for, keep it up bwana president, uyu kwena emuyaya beba abantu. Keep health my beloved President.

Not good enough. What we want are home loans even for the people working in the private sector. We can not be living in a country where very few individuals own plots and housing units which they in turn rent out at exobitant rental fees. Look at the (bobers) cabins in compounds like Chifubu, Wusakile, Chamboli, Buchi/Kamitondo, Chimwemwe etc which are not even fit for human habitation. Please ba PF you can do better than that. Allow us also in the private sector to own our own houses.Imagine if each year government can give out home loans to atleast 1300 people who do not have houses, where will Zambia be in terms of housing?

“If PF members are not organised we shall continue to help those who are organised”. Why should the president say this? Are these loans primarily for PF members? These are loans to be issued by government and DBZ therefore there should be no mention of political affiliation, ata!!

UNSECURED LOANS? These r just PF criminals stealing DBZ money in the name of bus drivers.

    1. You cant insure a public bus comprehensively. Think of accidents
    2. In 5 yrs that higher bus will be run down. Its not durable
3.If they manage to dish out 1000 buses market will saturate. Demand and supply. How do you raise money to pay back.
    THIS IS TYPICAL PF NUISANCE.
