Pastor Chileshe Justifies His Acting Role In Love Games

PASTOR Kangwa Chileshe, formerly Jason in local television soap Kabanana, says there is nothing sinister about his controversial acting role in the drama series Love Games.
Pastor Chileshe who is the overseer of City Of Refuge Church International has of late come under heavy attack from some sections of the Christian community who argue that given his social standing, he was not in order to play the role of an adulterer in the movie series.
Funded by USAID through the Safe Love campaign, Love Games is a drama series that follows the lives and relationships of five females, who are related either through blood or friendship. In the recent episode aired on both ZNBC and the privately owned Muvi TV, Pastor Chileshe plays the role of ‘Julius Nzala’- a man who engages himself in an adulterous affair with a married woman called Tamara. According to the Love Games synopsis, Julius Nzala appears to take advantage of Tamara’s loneliness and as she is abused by her unfaithful husband Hamoonga.
But speaking in a telephone interview with The Church Newspaper, Pastor Chileshe defended his decision to feature in the movie series. He also said there is nothing wrong with the role he played in Love Games.
According to Pastor Chileshe, the role he played in Love Games comes with a lesson to married people especially those who abuse their wives.
“I am aware that many people including Christians have criticised my role in Love Games and not all Christians condemn me. I believe that a woman should not stay in a marriage where she is abused. I do not also believe in some nonsense that we see on televisions that marriage is a ‘Shipikisha club’,” said the clergyman.
Pastor Chileshe further said there is nothing wrong for him as a pastor to act in non Christian movies because acting is one of his major sources of income.
“People should understand that I am an actor and I have been acting since 1999 and I first appeared in the Zambian soap called Kabanana. I started acting even before I was ordained as a pastor. I am not only an actor and pastor but a producer as well,” he said.
And Pastor Chileshe revealed that during the production of Love Games, he was initially tasked to play a role “more sinful” than the role of Julius Nzala but decided to turn it down as he had anticipated criticism from Zambians.
“I was first given a crucial role of Hamoonga (Tamara’s husband) who is an abusive and unfaithful husband but I refused for the sake of the Zambian people because I knew I would have received more criticism from the public. This character is more sinful than the character I played,” he revealed.
The clergyman also stated that he is alive to the fact that juggling acting with clergymanship is considered controversial by some people but was quick to point out that it depends on the person involved.
Pastor Chileshe who is married to fellow actor Imasiku also revealed that he consults his wife and church leadership before taking up any acting role adding “if these people are ok with my plans then I go ahead and do it because I believe they are people that are directly connected to me.”

its only good if you are telling the truth from your heart, and not pretending to be strong when you know that your heart can be convinced by what you see. Tell the people who engange you into the acting to be giving you respectable parts so that your name is maintained. Let them not use your appearance for the sake of business, coz love game is nothing but business and share waste of time, its for poeple who have nothing to watch really.

In the first place the pastor should realise that the duty he is carrying is very important than him acting in something that opposes christian norms. Besides he can not weigh sins by indicating that the part he took was less sinful than the 1 he was supposed to do at first. my ernest advice is that Plse concertrate preaching the word of God and avoid those earthly and unconnected activities to christianity. I am sure he became a pastor without a calling from God. If he was called by God and reads the Bible he would actually not find himself in this situation. If not, he would just listen to what people are saying. If you eat meat and the meat stumbles your brother, it is better not to eat it for the sake of your brother. Also he lacks wisdom, he should ask for wisdom from God. There is no justification for this. If he calls himself a pastor, he should regard himself as a high ranking official in the kingdom of God, far much even above a king or president. I am sure he may not understand this. Let him just ask God to help him.

Show me in the bible where it says acting in a drama or movie is a sin? I used to act as a drunkard in drama at campus and am still standing as a believer. Leave the Pastor alone. Some of you throwing stones at the Pastor are involved in real love games. GO TO HELL HATERS

Ba Kangwa wesu… I conquor with almost all the sentiments of the people. I believe your job as a pastor is to call people out of their sin and point them to the cross of calvery for salvation… NOT TO ENTERTAIN THEM IN THEIR SINS. As already pointed out by someone, would Jesus take a part in that movie? Let alone sitting down to watch it? Not even His beloved disciples would do that because they separated worldly things from the heavely kingdom. LOVE GAMES is a secular program and its for the earthlings… Not for us who are destined for the kingdom of God. The Lord has a special way to teach people to stay away from imorality… IN THE BIBLE!!!
If you have taken acting as your career… You can not mix it with serving God because the two are not compatible – you can’t serve to masters at once. Recall that His disciples had to leave their decent careers (fishing) to follow him. What about you with that imoral acting?
Also, consult God about such decisions… Not you wife or some of you church elders… Itss clear that they just wanted to please so they ended up lying to you. The Holy Spirit will surely direct accordingly.

Could all these people who are pushing insults at the pastor please leave him alone. How godly are you being assaulting the man like that. Is it Christian? Who are you to judge? The question one may ask is what is his intention in playing the role. Personally i think he means well. someone had to act that role,as it portrays things which are happening in our society. it is not the actor’s behavior yet we chastise him as if he is that character in real life. So please judge not. Who is judging you? Leave that one to god. Pray for yourself and also for the pastor. Pray for the end of this HIV menace,that is the real issue. Love games is a great programme and those who have watched it can attest to that. it is educative and highlights the trials and tribulations that people are faced with as a result of their behaviour. Long live Pastor and Love games.
